<p>Essays: My common app essay focuses on my cross-country trip to Canada when I was 10 years old and how it changed my view on life. For the essay about what perspective I will bring to Rice, I'm going to go in depth about my experiences with my cousins and grandparents in Canada and how they helped me become more open-minded about life.</p>

<p>Hooks: I am a Canadian citizen, I am the only girl at my school applying to Rice, and the only person at my school applying to Humanities at Rice (all of the other applicants are trying for Engineering). I am a really great writer and well-respected by the teachers writing my recommendations.</p>

<p>Rice is pretty hard, my brother got rejected with a 2040 and a 4.2 GPA, but compared to him you seem to have better ECs.</p>

<p>It wouldn’t hurt to do an interview, granted my bro interviewed well and still didn’t get in but it wouldn’t hurt. </p>

<p>I can’t say that you will get in, but I can’t say that you won’t get in either. You have a fair shot nonetheless.</p>

<p>it’s a bit of a reach but definitely possible. your gpa seems just a little low and i don’t really know how to judge act scores…but your ECs seem good, so i agree with swkim51 that it’s tough, but you do have a fair shot. good luck! :)</p>
