Looking for chances at Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Pitzer, Wesleyan, Bowdoin, and UW-Madison (in-state)

Also add Reed to that list

If your in-state at Mad then consider yourself in. Don’t know much about any of the other colleges besides Pomona is hard to get into, but your describing yourself as a pretty well rounded student, so you might have a chance, I really don’t know about the rest though, sorry.

Thanks, I am really hoping to express how well-rounded I am in my application. There are not many students that I know that have are taking challenging classes, have a 4.0, went 21-15 on varsity wrestling and have spent 10 hours every week dedicated to the sport, and also have traveled to Latin America for volunteer work in the summer. The only thing on the application that I am worried about are my test scores, but hopefully I can get them up

I’d suggest not pushing the well-rounded part so much, as in not using the phrase. Colleges don’t necessarily want most of their students to be well-rounded; they generally want bright, motivated, talented students who, collectively, bring diverse backgrounds and interests. You are probably attractive to many schools. :)

Another update: Just got voted president of the Spanish Honors Society :)

Excellent, leadership really helps!

I agree that your leadership is really good. You’re also a male applying to a LAC which is a plus since they are primarily female. I think overall you are in good shape as long as you right good essays and get good recs.

“as long as you right good essays”

Butt bee car full ewe sing come pewters sins day cant all ways spell well.

I’m going to be a little harsh and say, despite your impressive extracurricular record which will obviously help you, your SATS/ACT is a bit low: less than the average at most top LACs. I would probably retake them and see if you can inch up a bit.

Raise your SAT scores. Otherwise, everything is very strong. The schools you are looking at value academic rigor and success, but they also want students who are strong leaders and individuals, which it appears you are. Essays are very important, because they really say something specific about you, as opposed to numbers on a page, which may or may not say much at all. That being said, high SAT scores will give you a higher chance at getting in.

Pomona- high match
Claremont McKenna- high match.
Pitzer- depends. Probably a match, but pitzer has a unique admissions process. You probably already knew that, though. Be sure to interview here (and at all of your schools, if you can.)
Wesleyan- match.
Bowdoin- high match.
UW-Madison- safety.
Reed- match.
