hey all,
just wondering what my chances are for UCB and some other private universities. please give feedback thanks

major = poli sci
pre-reqs completed = 4/5 (last one will be completed winter quarter so UCs wont be able to see it)
pre-reqs gpa = 4.0
gpa = 3.89
trans. units completed = 75

*only issue is that i have an INC for math 10 (stats) b/c i had health issues on the day of the final and had to go to the hospital (so including the stats class would give me 80 units). If i get an A in the class my gpa will be 3.9 but if i get a B it will drop to around 3.84

i only got two b's but both were from summer school and occurred during the summer between my junior-senior year in high school. ever since then everything has been an A.

extra currics = pretty solid
essays = should be very good as well

Based on stats, I'd say your chances to Cal is pretty good. Although I will point out that the Social Sciences department only admitted %22 percent of total applicants, so there is stiff competition.

Private unis you could consider are USC, NYU, and Georgetown, albeit Georgetown requires you to take the SATs.

Maybe. I think if you can turn in your winter grades for the 5th prereq, do it. I am not too sure if it will bring down your chances that much, for a department that selective, I suggest you do so.

pellman, how do u know the statistics for each department @ ucb? i would like to know the transfer rate for several. If you could give me a site that would be helpful!

do you know if when you apply, they have the option of having a 2nd major, just incase u dont get accepted into the first choice? because im kind of torn between 2 majors right now and if i dont make it to my first choice, i would like to make it to the 2nd one at least, since it seems easier to get into...

While some believe that few UC campuses actually consider alternate majors for transfers, UCB is the only UC that doesn't allot a spot on the application.

You have to apply for the TAP program, which usually coincides with your school's Honors program. For my school, if you are in the honors program and finish a certain amount of classes (6 classes), you are automatically certified for TAP.

If your CCC is in SoCal, chances are your school participates with the TAP program.
