Chance for University of Illinois At Urbana Champaign

^Good advice.I only had 79.6 in 9th and that kinda tarnishes your record, cause some schools give higher marks than others(e.g. DAV).That puts you at a competitive disadvantage.
P.S. Lots of posts here, but no one has actually bothered to chance me.LOL

You’re in man.
Did you REALLY need clarification for that? :P

Many people would have applied in priority. Is it that easy?
The other colleges with engineering programs similar to Urbana are very selective(Caltech,Stanford etc.)
I mean, even my SAT is not very high.CR+M is certainly higher than Urbana 75 percentile, but what about writing?

^. I had this question too… Yes Engineering in UIUC is comparable with that of gtech, berkeley maybe even stanford nd caltech … then why is it not that ‘reputed’ or as aviral said, not that selective …

Incoming classes at schools like UIUC are 10x larger than those at CalTech and MIT.

Most state schools are obligated to admit in-state students meeting certain criteria - SAT/ACT, GPA/class rank.

Difference in tuition fee for in-state and out-of-state students discourages most potential applicants from out-of-state.

Two state schools that are much harder to get into are UCB and UMich and if you dig a little it is not that difficult to understand why these are different from other state schools.

^summed it up.

I got in!
Computer Engineering.

congratulations aviralkashyap!

I’d say a pretty decent shot. UIUC isn’t very difficult to get into, especially for those not asking for aid :P

UIUC isn’t a very difficult school to get into but its a really good school!

^Hope so. I’ve applied RD.

You are in.

I got in! :D

Man,people are posting chances after I have been admitted.LOL
@aniruddhc all public colleges but berkeley are easy to get into.

Rofl!!

10 char

Anyone accepted to UIUC for accounting?

Hi everyone!
Does UIUC have good employer potential for engineering students?

That depends on how you spend your four years at UIUC.

Yeah.
I do know that.
Still, are the placements comparable to other good colleges?
It’s a Public University, and is very easy for In-State students to get into.(I am an international.)
I am also concerned about how much reputation UIUC has among the potential recruiters.

aviral, compscifan is right.

I don’t understand your worry at all.

You will have difficulty finding a job after 4 years if the economy doesn’t improve (btw, that should be serious concern for all us) and you want the employer to sponsor you for work/permanent visa. Not because you attended UIUC.

Engineering students who do well at places like UIUC and GaTech don’t have to worry about employment or graduate school placement.

Please give us the list of colleges/univs which you think are better for employment.

Here is an exercise for you. Do some research and find out how many engineering graduates “better” schools produce. Find out how many fresh engineering graduates get hired by the industry every year and then you can use your math skills and estimate the probability.
