@VANDEMORY1342 yes i am black and my parents went to college for a little bit but they do not have any degrees. I’ll definitely look into them
@knowstuff i was thinking about going to grand valley but i didnt qualify for the merit scholarships and I’ll consider talking to the counselor. I did take the SAT and got a 22. Thank you!
@Jasmine886
Well as long as you apply to a low impacted major, you definitely have a shot. And yes that counts as first generation. You have to write killer essays, as its still a large reach for you.
Do you have any safeties?
“the math section just really messed me up.”
Did you do SAT preparation? Are you considering any major that has some math component (such as STEM)?
@DadTwoGirls Yes i did do sat prep at home and in school. And i want to major in psychology so i willl need to know a little bit of math
Yes i applied to 6 other schools and got into 5 of them, im still waiting on the 6th one @VANDEMORY1342
@Jamine866. I’m sure there’s not enough time to retake the SAT so its up to your essays.
URM won’t make any difference. You could still take the ACT, however, the test is on Feb 10
Jasmine866. My niece and all her friend’s are going there. They all have other choices as well. Just seems like the new cool school to go to these days. They are known to give decent financial aid and grants etc. Merits is just one factor. You can talk to financial aid at all your schools now and figure out which schools make financial sense for you. I highly suggest a comparative excel spreadsheet. It became very handy when doing apples to apples comparison with everything from true costs of the school minus financial aid, grants, scholarships, instate vs outstate, private vs public school.
Some smaller schools and smaller private schools you can negotiate and send in comparison to match… Just not Michigan… Ha…
Good Luck.
Even Feb 10 ACT would be too late.
