I got deffered recently and i was wondering does Michigan only defer in the initial stage and reject OR do they actually reject some people instantly as well.

Param - Michigan accepts 55-60% of all applicants :) Keep your hopes alive. If you have a decent GPA,you'll get in!!..... (make sure your SAT is at least 1200, as UMAA is more GPA driven).

yeah but do people actually get rejected? or do they deferr everyone until april?

thats what i'm wondering too. I'm out-of-state and my umich gpa is insanely low (3.3) but i'm kind of relying on my SAT (1460) and legacy status to get me in. how gpa-driven is umich? Should i start bracing myself for a rejection letter?

yes you can get rejected

nirvana, you should be ok. My friend got in a few days ago with a 1480 and a 3.2 gpa. He has some interesting work experience with autistic kids to help him support his app, but since you have legacy, things should work out.

i got in yesterday with a 1460 sat and a 3.5 gpa- my essay was pretty good but no special ecs or anything so you should either probably get in or deferred but prob not rejected

Yes, they have sent out some rejection letters already, if that is what you are asking. Not a large number.

I was deferred with a 3.5/1450 and solid essays...

My app was complete 3/10. Is it possible to still recieve a deferral, or will they only accept/reject at this point?

I got accepted with a 1460 and I applied right before the deadline on Feb. 1. I thought my essays were crap because I was actually not planning on even applying to U-M. My SAT IIs are horrible although I took 5. And I did/am take/taking 10 APs along with some ECs but nothing spectacular. So, I suppose they reject but uh..I guess not much.

They probably wait until April so that they can see everyone's profile.
