I have got 2020 in SAT (Maths-680 CR-630 Writing-710) along with 780 in SAT physics and 770 in Math II. as I did my high schooling outside US, which doesn’t have a GPA system, though i always scored above 90% and topped the class. What are my chances in Cornell?
What school and major? That’s important.
@tccbay: Electrical and Computer Engineering is my first choice, though i wouldn’t say no to an aeronautical degree as well… BTW i also have some research experience in a local college here…and one of my papers was published in an international journal…do you think that would improve my chances???
Your SAT I scores are well below average for the College of Engineering.
csdad is right. I know someone who got in with a lower SAT score than you, but they were is CALS. And the fact that your math score is only 680 really hurts. You should be able to do better since you got a 770 in Math II. Also I would imagine computer engineering is one of the harder majors to get into but I’m not sure.
Research and having a paper will definitely help.
guys there is some kind of mistake. I got my full score report today for the subject tests… my percentile for math level 2 is showing 69th percentile even though i got 770. And my physics percentile is 82% though i got 780. Are these normal?
@tccbay: what does CALS mean?
Think as an admissions officer. You do not want to be just your numbers (although some of your subject tests are weak), what are your ECs and how are you a great fit for this school?
Your SAT II percentiles are skewed because they’re curved more generously and are required by top tier schools, so most people know the material on these exams very well. For instance my 790 in Chem and 800 in Math II were barely in the 80th percentiles.
@IndoorCloud25: So do you think i should even bother applying in Cornell with such subject test scores/percentiles?
??
Of yourse you should apply. My point was that the percentiles for SAT IIs don’t matter.
