Im a junior and my number one school is UCSB. My Freshman and Sophomore years on HS were very bad, I was at a very bad high school and finished with an over all weighted gpa of a 2.8.... Now, after transferring I have a 3.7 and hopefully will finish this year with a 4.3... Also I am a very competitive baseball player and I am lost wondering if UCSB should still even be a thought. I do a lot of community service have my own business and do other things but I dont know if theres any hope. Any thoughts that would make me feel any better?

colleges like UCSB love an upward trend! I think you should still consider it, it shows a desire to succeed which schools will like definitely stay in the running, and take a strong, hard course load senior year!

I’m no expert, but I don’t think you should give up! Especially not as a competitive athlete! :)

I really appreciate the response btw, but should I still be keeping it as a number one even if its not as realistic? Im going there this month for a baseball showcase but Imm still sort of doubting if I should still go through the whole process. I see people with 4.0 weighted grades not getting in, its hard to see me getting in

NAHHH people get into UCSB with a 3.something gpa. it’s doable and honestly, if you do a sport, you’re a shoe-in (pun intended ) my friend got into emory with a not-so-great gpa for running, you’ll be fine if they want you for baseball. even if not, you should still really consider it and in your essays talk about the adversity you faced at your old high school :)

Thanks for the feedback!!!
if anyone else has an opinion on this as well it’d be helpful…
