Chance me. 2.7gpa/1500 sat

GPA: 2.7
SAT: 1500

Live in Los Angeles, CA
African American
Extracurriculas: Basketball, football, track and field
Minor volunteer stuff, community service, no job

What are my chances at these schools?

San Jose State
Cal Poly Pomona
San Francisco State
Northern Arizona
University of Arizona
Arizona State
University of Oregon
Oregon State
Washington State
University of Nevada-Reno
University of New Mexico
University of Colorado-Boulder
Colorado State
Ball State

And if you guys could recommend other schools that'd be great too!

ANYBODY PLEASE??

San Jose, U of Arizona, U of Oregon, Oregon State are the main ones I’m looking at.

hmmm I honestly don’t know much about these schools
but a 2.7 gpa, 1500 sat. You are possibly looking a community college
sorry try raising your sat, maybe that will help.

you will get into a lot of CSU’s but why bother with them? In my opinion you should go to a community College, get a 3.2 gpa+ (Which will get you to most UC’s except Berk, LA, and SD), then transfer to a UC

Well according to Oregon’s admission requirements I meet the 2.7 gpa/990 Verbal/Math score requirement to get accepted. So I should apply right?

And I applied to CSU Northridge but got denied. I called them and according to their admission index, they said that I need to raise my Verbal/Math score by 45 and they’ll let me in.

And I really want to go to a university freshman year, I’d be miserable at a comm college while all my friends are at universities lol.

(Oh and weighted GPA: 2.73, unweighted GPA: 2.79)

to be honest i think you have a great shot at all of those schools.
colleges look for student from “culturally diverse” backgrounds, which really works in your favor since your African-American. Furthermore, your involvement in sports shows dedication and ability to juggle many responsibilities. Your chances at getting in are prettty good.

Best of luck.

Thanks for the encouragement. This site makes me depressed almost because I see everyone with 4.0s and getting into Stanford n stuff lol. So I don’t think I’m gonna apply to all those schools I listed before. But if this ends up being my list I should get into a few right…

CSU Northridge
San Jose State
Cal Poly Pomona
San Francisco State
University of Arizona
Northern Arizona
University of Oregon
Oregon State

I don’t know your inteded major, but I think you are a match for most of those schools. A lot of state schools only require a 2,5 GPA and a 1250 and above on the SAT (or around a 22 on the ACT). If you need some more schools, how about University of Alabama, or Mizzou? Just some suggestions. They are large public state schools, where students are really happy and make loads of friends.

Don’t be disheartened by kids with 4.0 GPAs, because colleges understand that not all kids are geniuses, and some of us are just average  I have a college GPA of 3.1 (transferring) and just got accepted to University of Houston, Alabama and Mizzou. I’m just waiting for a reply from my #1 choice; LSU (my mom went there and I qualify for a legacy scholarship - 75% off OOS tuition).

Good luck

A killer essay would do the trick. Honestly, don’t get discouraged. Stanford isn’t for everyone! It’s what you make out of it.

Honestly, I can see state schools being high matches for you. You’ll definitely get into a few, if you apply to a whole bunch, though. Remember to have some safety schools.

Who cares what your friends do? If you go to a CC freshman year, then transfer into UCSB and graduate with a high paying job, isn’t that better than going to a CSU as a freshman, then graduating and making much less?

i think you can get into all this schools or at least in 95% of them. i agree with you this site makes me depressed too.my gpa is 2.7 and my sat 1490. i got accepted into providence college, holy cross, wheelock and emmanuel college in boston so far. WITH MERIT SCHOLARSHIPS!!! dont let anyone stop you. and good luck!!! i am a minority also(dominican) so it might help.because colleges look at different backgrounds!!!

Thanks for the advice guys. So San Jose’s my first choice, but Oregon, Oregon State and Arizona probably SHOULD be my first choices because they’re better schools. I just like San Jose because it’s the closest thing to LA weather, it’s not TOO far from home, it’s the cheapest, and the most diverse. I’ve applied to San Jose, SF State, Cal Poly Pomona, CSUN, and U of Arizona, and I’m gonna add Northern Arizona, Oregon, and Oregon St. Hopefully I get into some!

Logged in myUA today (University of Arizona) and they said they’ve made their decision and they’re going to let me know shortly. Please pray guys!

Your defiantly getting into the Arizona State University anyone can get into there.

Ohh I’m not applying there I just kinda threw that in there lol. But Arizona Univ I think I would really like. Hope I get in!

you should apply there just in case all the schools reject you or waitlist you. It’s a good school and has a beautiful campus you might get into the honors program if you sign for it. Anyway good luck and your GPA and SAT is good it’s what I call normal.

Got into University of Arizona!!!
Now just waiting for San Jose State (my first choice).

be a recruited athlete and go to Harvard, Stanford, Yale or Princeton, its def possible despite that GPA. One of my friends is a football player and he got a full ride to Yale, he has a 3.1 GPA and a 1600 SAT. Out val last year got rejected from yale, even with a 2340

“Oooooooooooooooohhh”
…lol.
