One of mine had a 4.0 UW, 34 ACT, took most difficult curriculum his high school offered. Visited each of his schools and showed direct interest. Got into Michigan and Tulane EA. Offered half cost merit at Tulane. Those II gave a 75% chance he’d get in early, more for Tulane. They were match schools in my mind and so they planned out
I would have considered those other schools on your lists higher reaches. I would have figured more than half a chance at UNC , Wash U and USC. I would have guessed he’d get into at least one of these three, maybe even two. Wouldn’t have been surprised if all three, would have been surprised if denied at all three. His peers and cousin was accepted at USC with lower stats, but none of them CA residents, Wash U , most got in. UNC would have been the one I’d wonder about because al or if the kids we know accepted there OOS had hooks. Being from CA would likely work to your advantage.
I have no clue how the UCs would pan out, as few kids here apply to them and so I’ve seen little data , and I am not familiar with the CA system.
Of course, other info could color your prospects greatly. I know my student had great recs, an unusual major as a tip, and met with the area admissions rep for each school. But had no hooks in ECs or situation.
Ignore the UCs @Gumbymom , 750 on math 2, three APs junior year, 2.5 APs senior year, two Honors sophomore year, one honor senior and junior year each. ECON major
