So... basically people here on CC can determine others' chances, but not their own? If you have the authority to comment on someone else's ability to get into an Ivy League, why can't you use that knowledge and apply it to your own scores/achievements?

I guess you can want a second opinion, but there are people who have asked to be chanced on EVERY SINGLE college forum (One specific person comes to mind but it would be mean to point out names, and I'm sure other people do it too). Chances are if people tell you that you can get into Harvard, you can get into NYU as well.

Also, if you have a 2390 SAT, Intel finalist, have 300 hours of community service and are valedictorian, what do you expect us to tell you that you need? Especially for seniors who have ALREADY APPLIED those chance threads are sort of pointless... just wait until April 1st. Enjoy HS rather than worrying about it when it's out of your hands. Remember how annoying it was when you actually COULD do anything to make a difference, like us juniors (worst year OF MY LIFE), didn't know exactly what, and just tried the best you could at everything? You've already accomplished so much! Especially the typical CCer.

Sorry that was a rant, but I feel like these chance threads are pointless seeing as admissions officers can't comment and other high schoolers and most parents probably don't know any more about getting into top schools that you do if you've taken the time to research and apply to them. If you don't know where you stand with SAT scores and how your personality would fit in at that school, chances are you probably won't get in (unless you've just won the Nobel Prize...) You're MORE THAN just a number (and that includes community service hour numbers)!
