Hi this is my Andover application: please chance me

Bday: 1995
Origins: Lebanon, Syria, UK, USA (4passports)
Resident: in Lebanon for 11 years - Tunisia for 5 years
School: American system in Lebanon, French system in Tunisia (Lycee)

Well, you certainly do seem to be a unique applicant with a broad world view. You fit very well with the “non-sibi” mentality.

I don’t think the scarcity of extracurriculars will be an issue, since it’s obvious you haven’t had access to many of them. The only issue may be with academic qualifications, since the SSAT is rather low.

I honestly mean no offense, but posting not only your birthday, nationalities, and other private information, but also everything on your application is not a smart move. Giving out any info on the internet is dangerous, and an Admissions Officer from Andover could easily happen upon this thread and read everything you’ve written. And considering you’re applying for 11th grade, they might take “people please say someeeeeethingggggg” as signs of desperation and immaturity. They could also trace your other posts and threads, and who knows what you’ve written in those.

And just as intrinsically said, there is nothing more you can do. Nobody on this thread can tell you if you’re going to get in, so concentrate on other things until March 10th. Keep the process out of your mind, and February will roll by in a breeze.

That being said, I wish you the best of luck with decisions and everything going on in your life, and hopefully you receive good news on March 10th. You obviously care very much about the possibility of attending prep school, so I hope your dedication shows through and you achieve your dream. Good luck!

And plus, the statement “I highly recommend Jeita Grotto” in your short answer sounds like you’re speaking directly to the reader and advertising a tourist site, which completely deviates from the question posed and just sounds weird in the context. But I guess it’s too late. Hopefully it goes unnoticed?

And your first short answer has several run-on sentences and grammar mistakes, but hopefully they will be overlooked, considering your background.

only because andover has just so many exceptional applicants, you’re chance is weak. they’re average ssat score is 94%, and yours is in the 70s. not saying that ssat scores are the only thing they look at, but it doesnt sound like your ECs are too strong either. many of andover’s students create their own organizations or actively donate/ raise money for them. your essays are a bit confusing to read, but that will probably be brushed off since you are an international applicant. your varying background and culture is interesting.
its not that you are a bad student, but andover is just highly competitive. they seek good students who have top grades (straight As), and very strong ECs and community service. but dont lose hope! you might still have a chance depending on this year’s applicant pool. be prepared for acceptance and rejection.

I actually applied late… And they said it was okay as long as I do it QUICKLY…

However, I would like to be clear on the fact that I am calm and not stressing out… Im not much of a “stress” person, I never felt stressed for a test or anything…
I posted this thread just to see what other people thought…
AND I as not aware that posting this is bad for me… And I don’t really see why?

@ylax:
“many of andover’s students create their own organizations or actively donate/ raise money for them”

This is not necessarily true. Andover published a list of ~15 outstanding incoming students who have done so, but they do not represent the entire Andover community.

@FarisM:
I do not really chance, but I will say that you seem to have a very interesting and unique story, but then again I am not an adcom. Good Luck with the rest of the admissions process!

I don’t know enough about the admissions process to say whether or not this post was a good idea. I did post my information though not quite my birthdate because that’s a bit dangerous. You aren’t from an American school or from an English speaking country for that matter so if there are any mistakes on your essays gramatically im sure that the admissions officers will cut you some slack. You seem to be very different than the average American student and an admissions officer will see that. your chances seem good to me.
