Chance Me / Application Discussion - Virginia Tech Class of 2024

@carrottopcurls2

Right above those two options it indicates what term he is applying for. Click on that (fall 2020?) and it’ll take you to another screen with his specific info. Still not fancy with graphics but at least it shows what he applied for.

@hsa0804
My understand is In the bottom section where it indicates the coursework received date, a new section will appear once an admission decision has been made.

Virginia Tech normally stays very close to dates announced for release

The results will show up in the portal in a new section that appears on the status screen just above the SrAR section.

I have on my calendar that regular decisions will be released ON 2/22.

Early action releases 2/22

Regular decision not until 3/5

Looking for insite on my son.
Early Decision - 1470 SAT, 4.2 weighted, 7 AP, many honors
3 season varisy athlete, captain of one - 12 seasons of sports for all four years
Leadership in outside volunteer organization
Employment - with promotions over the years - now head manager
Pamplin - BIT major of choice
White male

I see I have two replies - but how do I view them - sorry I am new

Easily accepted.

Sorry - I ommitted one fact. Does it change your insight knowing he is from Northern Virginia.

No doesn’t change opinion. GPA is above average and SAT is better than good.

Interested in my son’s chances. He’s an Early Decision applicant.

1350 SAT
Early College (will graduate with associate’s degree and high school diploma)
3.9 GPA in all courses
In-state (Central Virginia)
Political Science major
Multi-generation legacy (both parents and two grandparents are alumni)
Three year varsity soccer letterman and upcoming team captain
100+ hours of community service (including repair of storm damaged homes throughout Southeast and Puerto Rico)

Guess I’ll play too!

Early Action
1510 SAT (one sitting, 790 M, 720 R)
SAT II Chem 720 (took as a freshman) and Math2 730 - don’t think these scores are on the SRAR though
GPA 3.5 UW, 4.7 W (but our school has a generous weighting system)
AP Chem (4), AP Physics (4), AP Calc AB (5), AP Bio (4), AP Human Geo (5), AP Lang (3)
All other courses Honors level except PE; taking AP Stats this year
OOS (Midwest)
Chemistry major
Honors Chem Teacher’s Assistant this year
Decent EC (two sports, volunteer work, some clubs - not president/captain though – and summer job)
Started high school in 7th grade through a highly selective public test-in program so has a weird course progression – lots of requirements were done early so there are many more electives his last two years (e.g., forensics, biochem, organic chem)

UW GPA could be a problem, I guess??

I think you both should be good.

Hey, really love Tech, and I’ve hit that stage where I’m nervous about whether I’ll get in or not so thought I would post here to get some reactions, thanks!

Early Action
White (Afghan) male from Nova
GPA Weighted: 4.33, UW 4.01
SAT: 1500 (740 M, 760 RW)
Class Rank: ~30/330 (top 10%)
Rigorous schedule, have taken the hardest possible classes for my core classes
Eight AP’s in total
Two years of Virginia Space Grant Consortium programs with one as project manager
Two years of SNHS, with leadership position
One year of NEHS
5 years of weightlifting
2 years of rec basketball
FBLA 2 years
I also attend a STEM magnet school within my county, as well as my home high school. There I take part in the Engineering pathway, and will have done it for the final two years of HS.

How are my chances looking for Engineering?

Is it a problem if there is nothing in the “Self-Reported Coursework” section of the portal yet? I put all my courses in Coalition and I think my SRAR (which I had already done for Penn State) was linked automatically on 12/4.

You can Login in to srar website and we that it is there

Mr babadaba - all loks good to me. On one knows what to predict with this years engineering acceptances but I would be surprised if you don’t get in. I assume you chose early admission or early action.

Hello all,
First I would like to say that I have been accepted for the Explore CAUS (College of Arch. & Urban Studies) at VT for the fall class of 2020. I maintain a 3.6 weighted consistently for all 4 years and I have taken rigorous classes for all 4 years. I currently take Applied Calculus, Dual Government, Dual English, and AP Environmental Science. I have also taken Architecture classes that my school offers for all 4 years and I am currently in Engineering Drawing. I am in the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, I played lacrosse for 2 years, I am on the leadership team for Sources of Strength-a suicidal prevention organization. In addition, I will be graduating high school with 21 college credits. I am also in College Partnership Program as well. I am from northern VA and I am a black male. I was fortunate to get invited to their BCI camps two years in a row and worked with the admissions team down their on what I needed to do to get in. In terms of Test Scores, I received a 24 on the ACT which is an 1180 on the SAT scale. I would also like to point out that UVA emailed me for their prospective student day in case I look dull or under qualified in any aspect. I am a hard worker and determined student which I think is a great advantage for me. One of the admission people told me my gpa was excellent for admission last year so I guess I’m curious as if I should deserve the acceptance as I look at all of these other applicants. Thanks and best regards.

You did an excellent job fast tracking yourself into acceptance and should be very proud of your hard work. It shows how GPA averages aren’t the only story!

Early Decision for Undecided

ACT : 33 math 36, english 34, reading 31, science 30
5 for Calc AB

I know my GPA is below average but do I still have a chance of getting in?
