Chance me at Elon and similar

I am current Junior in private Catholic high school in Arizona with 4.2 GPA. PSAT indicate a 1550 to 1725 out of 2400 on SAT's. I have worked at a supermarket since 14 and now at 17 am assistant front end training manager. I run a none profit company. I have played piano for 13 years and am now at a college level. I have been on the varsity tennis team for 2 years. I am also in national honor society and leadership clubs at school. I am interested in Elon and other schools with less than 5000 students in south or midwest. Can anyone chance me at elon and give a list of others. I am interested in education or buisness.

Well…Elon is a fine choice and even better school. They do like baseball players. Their admissions stats are on the rise and they are highly competitive now. It would be better if you had an 1800 or higher on the SAT, so strive for that. A large part of the SAT is strategy, so if you can take a course from Kaplan or someone, do so. For example, it HURTS you to GUESS on answers if you are pressured for time because they take off points. Its far better NOT to guess and just leave questions you don’t know the answer to (or can’t eliminate at least 2 of the 4 choices) blank. Dont waste time on super hard questions. Focus on getting 100% on the easy and moderate questions and rack up big points there. I despise the SAT. But it is what it is.

Its NOT an IQ test. But it is required.

Your gpa is fine and very likely will please Elon admissions. Your location will help you as well. Its a gorgeous…and I mean it…gorgeous campus.

Look also at UNC-Asheville, Furman, Wofford, Presbyterian, Rhodes, Sewanee, JMU, Clemson (larger than you want but a good school), High Point.

I think you have a decent shot at Elon if you can get your SAT up and apply ED/EA. About 25% of Elon’s freshman are Catholic and they just blessed a new Catholic center this past weekend. They are trying hard to be inclusive.

I think you’ll get in, their average GPA is in the 3.4-3.7 area. Also, for me anyway, I scored a good amount lower on the PSAT than the SAT. I suggest High Point, they’re very similar but High Point is even more gorgeous and the dorms/facilities are amazing. James Madison, UNC-Wilmington, Tulane?

Elon is one of those private schools where interest plays a big part. Make sure you visit and take the official tour. It is a popular school and sometimes it’s a numbers game around here, so coming from Arizona is a plus. Kids I know who really want to go there find it a plus to attend a class during your visit also. The teachers are amazing. I know when my D went, the teacher spent a full hour with her afterwards talking with her. So show interest. I know of a kid who was a legacy with great grades and didn’t get in. The parent called and they said that “she didn’t visit”.

How would I stack up at Wake Forest or Davidson? And would I have a better chance with no test scores?

Wake Forest and Davidson both are very selective. Highly doubt your SAT scores would get you in, but your ECs are interesting. No test scores? I could be wrong, but most if not all schools require either the SAT or the ACT. If you haven’t already planned to do so, you should take the SAT this fall to see how well you do and then probably again in the spring.

OK - no chance at Davidson (SAT / ACT Required),

Chance at Wake (Test Optional) but to be considered for $ aid you must submit SAT / ACT.

Elon as I stated above, just get the test scores up.

High Point does not offer a comparable level of academics.
