Chance me at these colleges (UC's?)

Incoming senior in Southern California.
These are the colleges I was considering applying to:
Cal Poly SLO
UCI
UCSD
UCSB
And maybe ucla and Berkeley but I think those are out of my league. (Although I did have friends with similar grades get in)

SAT: 2040 (one sitting)
Reading: 660
Math: 720
Writing: 660

Act: 31
English: 31
Math:34
Reading: 33
Science: 27

My weighted gpa is 4.43 i think unweighted is around 3.85

Soph: ap euro, Chem honors, trig/math analysis honors, Spanish 3 honors, lacrosse, Lang 2 honors

Junior: ap calc bc, ap bio, ap us hist, ap Spanish, ap Lang, humanities

Senior: ap Econ/gov, ap lit, ap stats, ap chem, ap physics, asb

Rank is 5 in about 200-300 students

I have weak EC’s:
Two years lacrosse with one varsity.
Co-pres of collegiate scholars program
Distinguished scholar
Interactive club
150 hours comm service mostly from public libraries
Volunteered at election polls
In charge of special projects in asb

I think ucla and Berkeley might be high reaches, but I think I might have a chance at the other schools. I’m interested in engineering so I know that it can be impacted like at ucsd.

I have gotten all a’s and two b’s and one c which may hurt my applications
I’m just trying to decide which colleges to apply to because it can get really expensive.
Thanks for any help!

You need to calculate your UC GPA: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
You are competitive applicant for the UC’s you have listed. What is your intended major?

UCLA/UCB would probably a Low Reach/High Match

UCI/UCSB look like match schools, UCSD is a match/high match. SLO could go either way depending upon your major.
I do not see any safety schools and would add UCD and UCSC for 2 more Match schools if wanted.

@jessmarie123 For Engineering you could find yourself shut out of Cal Poly, UCSD, and UCI. Most schools do not post admissions information by major, so the GPA and test scores can be misleading. UCLA Engineering admissions data shown here for 2014 demonstrates how much more selective Engineering is. Engineering is a very small door. (Although since females are wildly under represented in Engineering, this may provide a better chance for you).

Thanks for the responses. I do realize that engineering majors can be difficult to get into. I do have a safety school (cal state Fullerton) I just didn’t list it because I’m not worried about not getting into it. My uc gpa is 4.17.

You’re a reach for engineering at UCB and UCLA, and sort of a reach for engineering at UCSD. The rest look like matches.

2 suggestions:

Have more engineering related ECs

Raise your SAT/ACT scores a bit

Hope that helps

Consider taking the SAT Subject Test for Math. That may help you get that extra push. UCB and UCLA seem like reach. UCSD is more of a target. You will probably get into UCI, SLO, and UCSB.
