Chance me at top finance/business colleges: Stern, UPenn, Boston College, Columbia, UMich, Kellogg

Asian Male, New Jersey, 200k+. I am in a competitive large school (3500 kids) planning to major in finance.
STERN IS MY DREAM SCHOOL.
LEGACY FOR STERN ( dad, grandparents both went to stern; we donate ~1k a year)

UW: 3.76: 3.55(9), 3.66(10), 4.08(11). Good progression. Hardest Classes, 11 APs, rest honors except for spanish (the reason why my 9,10 grades are so low. My junior grades are top 20 out of 850 juniors).
SAT: 1550/1600, 22 essay.
PSAT: 1480/1520
SAT MATH II: 800
SAT USH: 780
SAT BIO: 690 (9th grade)
SAT PHYSICS: 760
AP: APUSH (5), AP CALC BC(5), AP PHYS (5), COMP SCI (4), LANG (4)

EC:

  1. FBLA (10-12): 7th at nationals, board position: President of Stock Market Committee.
  2. Science Olympiad (10-12): 7th at States, our school is top 6 school.
  3. Science League (10-12) (award for top 10% in physics)
  4. SCIENCE HONORS SOCIETY
  5. SOCIAL STUDIES HONORS SOCIETY.
  6. Math League (9-12)
  7. Physics Club: 1st Physics Olympics in Fermi (probably means nothing)

Sports:
Volleyball (9-12): Varsity bench; our school is competitive because it is huge.

Volunteering:
Chinese School: 100 Hours, 3 years
Hospital: 80 hours, 1 year

Recs:
8/10,7/10,6/10: nothing out of the ordinary. I am not really close to all of my teachers; I am a quiet person.

Essay:
I am the Guinness world record holder for “Fastest Time to Travel to all of the Subway Stations” for NYC, DC, and Boston. (confirmation coming out soon). My life has been an affinity for trains. From playing with Thomas train sets when I was little, to visiting all 472 subway stations in NYC, trains have been my largest obsession. I write about how this hobby has evolved in me. It is very strong. 9.5/10

Strengths:
Essay-unique person with the determination to do whatever he wants.
SAT/AP- maybe my SAT MATH and SAT PHYSICS because I am math/sci oriented?

Weakness:
GPA: Not high enough for some of these schools; will they notice the progression?
Leadership: almost none
Extracurriculars: only one that stands out.

I plan on EDing either Columbia or UPenn, because I feel that NYU Stern could be my safety (ED II); but NYU stern is a very competitive school as well and I know that it is hard to get into. Also I didn’t play an instrument (band until 10th grade), which could be a drawback

Thanks, feedback appreciated!

@richardye1 your GPA is lower than the average at Penn and columbia but he rest of your stats def make up for that I think. It might be worth applying to Columbia or Penn ED to maximize your chances and apply to Stern EDII if ED doesn’t work out. I feel you have a decent/good chance at Penn and Columbia if ED, RD is a crapshoot for both. However i feel you should only ED to Penn or columbia only if you would pick them over Stern if you had the option or at least if you would be equally happy in any of the three. (tbh personally I don’t see why one would pick Stern over Penn/Columbia given the chance, but if Stern is really your number 1 choice, maybe you should ED there).

What’s your weighted gpa? Because that could make up for your uw. Also what is your cumulative class rank?

@SUD2001 My weighted GPA is around 5.35. But the idea is that I’m in all of the highest possible classes except for Spanish

Do recalculate your uwGPA with no subgrades and 4.0 max scale for UMich. It seems to be a bit low for UMich right now as their average admitted GPA was 3.87 last year. Ross is usually even more competitive than LSA.
