Well considering you took 7 APs and 6 Honors and still couldn’t manage to get over a 4 point, what’s your unweighted GPA? Overall, just by what’s on here, I would say your chances are slim. Your ECs have no consistency at all, you switched from one to another and you seemed to be only one club for more than two years. The issue again for most people is that they don’t have a spike and just from my perspective, I can’t tell what you want to major in. Your ECs go from medicine, to theatre to debate, it’s super random. Not trying to be rude, but I’m just trying to be realistic.
three of my APs are from my senior year and are not accounted for in my GPA. Honors courses at my school are not weighted. As for my ECs, only two of my clubs have I been in for only 2 years and one of them I started (at my school you have to be a junior to start a club) The rest I have been involved in since freshman to sophomore year. And you’re right, I am going in undecided because I have a lot of different passions and I’m still figuring out what I want to pursue.
You have a reasonable chance. Good you didn’t send your ACT as that won’t help (anything 31 or better perhaps). I do think being from the NW helps as Wake wants to continue growing its national presence. Plenty of kids from CA but not many from other western states.
I would talk up your volunteer work A LOT! Community service is a big deal on campus. Their motto is “Pro Humanitate” or For the betterment of man and they mean it. Lots of campus wide service initiatives. They bring in a lot of alumni who have done well and give back. They make a point of sharing that with the students.
Also, all students are undeclared at Wake. Majors are chosen in spring of sophomore yr. Keep in mind many have prereq classes so you’l want to track towards a major once you know where your interest lie. They have a core curriculum that provides a very well rounded overall education. Some like that, others wish they could focus on intended major sooner but it does provide a lot of value in terms of overall education (think LAC).
I agree with other poster to focus your ECs on a couple of topics. Deep is better than wide as they want to see substance.
Showing interest is important at Wake. If you can, visit and do an interview on campus. If not, do a skype interview. And write really good essays . They’re very serious about that. They have one of the more demanding applications. Lots of short answer opportunities to frame your narrative. Sometimes short answers are harder than full essays. Limited space to tell your story. Spend adequate time on it. It will make a difference.
