hi i’m new to college confidential but I heard that you can “chanced” by actual people so I was wondering if somebody could do it for me?

just some background, au is my dream school however, i dealt with some mental health issues during the first two years of hs which lowered my GPA (which i mentioned in my application).

i applied as a political science major for regular decision

freshman yr:

  • GPA: 3.5 weighted
  • my only honors class was spanish

sophomore yr:

  • GPA: 3.4 weighted
  • i took honors spanish, honors international studies, and honors public speaking

junior yr:

  • GPA: 3.6 weighted
  • ap spanish, honors government, and honors international studies

senior yr (up until second semester):

  • GPA for MP1: 4.2 weighted
  • GPA for MP2: 4.0 weighted
  • GPA Overall for Semester 1: 4.1 weighted
  • ap european history, ap gov and politics, honors international business and politics, honors statistics, honors English

sat score: 1310 but i went test-optional because i went to one of their admissions meetings and they talked about how they’ve been test-optional for a while.
ap tests: 4 on ap spanish

Extracurriculars:

  • Secretary of Political Science Club (2 yrs)
  • Model UN
  • President of Amnesty International (2 yrs) (was a dead club and revitalized it and now we do community service and fundraisers)
  • Co-social media manager of ACLU at my school
  • Treasurer of Spanish Honor Society
  • Social media manager for an independent climate justice organization
  • treasurer of my town’s gun violence prevention group
  • Indian dancing for my town’s Indian Cultural Society for 5 years

Awards/Honors:

  • New Jersey State Champion for the We the People Competition (advancing to nationals in April)
  • Best Position Paper from my committee at a MUN conference
  • Distinguished Delegate Award from my committee at another MUN conference
  • Honor Rolls
  • Spanish Honors Society
  • English Honor Society
  • Social Studies Honor Society

Volunteering:

  • 100+ hours of volunteering
  • I consistently taught second graders how to speak, write, understand, and read Hindi for three years
  • volunteered with my town council where local companies and event organizers could request volunteers

can speak, read, write, and understand three languages (English, Spanish, Hindi). can play piano and guitar.

Your extracurriculars are very strong, but your GPA and course load is not on AU’s level (unless your school didn’t offer more honors/AP classes than you took). I’d say you’re likely looking at waitlist or spring admission.

25/75 in - and you need to demonstrate interest…a lot of interest.
