Great letters and, if you'll allow the indecent lack of modesty, a fantastic essay.

Hofstra and New Paltz are definitely safe for you. I’d say the rest are reachy with NYU being a high reach.

Thanks for the input! Anyone else?

I don’t think you can consider New paltz a safety, more like a match. Hofstra might be a safety for you. The others are reaches. Is money a factor, because the SUNY’s will be much more reasonable, especially if you are in-state.
Hofstra is a big commuter school. My daughter has taken Saturday classes there for young people. I was impressed with the food at the cafeteria.
My son is at New Paltz and I graduated from NYU so if I can answer any questions feel free to ask.

I didn’t think that New Paltz could be considered a safety for me, either.

Money will certainly be an issue. Funny how I fell for the two most expensive/least financial aid friendly private schools in New York.

I actually do have a question regarding New Paltz–what’s the political/social atmosphere like? The reason that I fell for NYU, and Bard especially, is because they’re both known as fairly liberal schools. Does New Paltz fit that mold in any way?

Thank you!

Yes, most definitely New Paltz fits the mold for having a very liberal environment. Much more so than Geneseo and Binghamton. It is considerably more down to earth than NYU and Bard. Do you plan to visit all the schools?

I do, indeed.

Update: Deferred from Bard. Kind of a bummer.

Things happen for a reason…I have heard mixed reviews on Bard.
