Hey guys! I’m a junior at a top boarding school in New England, and I would love to stay on the East Coast for college. I know Yale and Columbia might be a stretch, but I’m double legacy (father and sister) to Princeton, if you think that might help.
Half South Asian (Nepali), half white, female.
Hope to study English literature, perhaps minor in media/communications.
3.83 unweighted GPA - by the end of this semester I intend to raise it above 3.9.
I got a 2230 and 2270 on SAT practice tests, so I hope to score somewhere in that vicinity when I take it (the old one) in January.
5s on Spanish and US History APs; taking AP Lit, Calc BC, World History, and Bio this year.
Won the English department prize two years in a row.
Varsity field hockey and lacrosse for three years (although I don’t intend to play at the college level).
President and two-time “MVP” of the speech & debate team.
First chair cello in advanced orchestra.
President of the music appreciation society, co-president of the radio station.
Staff writer and copy editor at school newspaper; this year I will apply to be on the editorial board (hope to be EIC, news editor, or arts editor).
Summer internships (obtained entirely of my own planning and execution, not part of a program) at a respected Boston literary magazine and a music website based in Connecticut. Currently, I’m a staff writer for a couple of arts/music sites, I’ve been paid for articles I’ve written, and I’ve even covered music festivals (with a press pass) for the CT website, as well as my local newspaper – I think this is a really unique EC and it’s something I’m very proud of. Probably will write personal statements, etc. about my experiences as a young woman in music journalism.
Lmk what you think, and I’ll chance you back if you so desire! Thank you so much!
