Chance Me? (Bates, Johns Hopkins, Cornell, UMaryland & Rutgers)

I'm a rising senior, and I want to major in Biochemistry/pre-pharmacy. However for Cornell I would be doing Nutritional Sciences.

UW GPA: 4.0

SAT:
First time: CR 670 , M 600, W 680 -- Composite 1270/1950
Second time: CR 700, M 630, W 690 -- Composite 1330/2020 (My math scores are pretty bad, but I'm going to focus on my ACT score instead because I don't want to take the SAT a third time.)

ACT: E 34, M 30, CR 33, S 25, E/W 30 -- Composite 31 (While I work on my math score, I will also work over the summer to get my science score up. For the fields (pharmacy/nutrition) I am thinking about going into, a higher score would benefit me more.)

Ethnicity: Asian
State: New Jersey
EC's: Club Soccer (All four years of high school, I've been playing since I was young)
Volunteer work for arts and crafts at a camp (All four years of high school)
Member of an R&D staff team for a website (It'll be 3 years of high school)

I'm planning to do more volunteer work over this summer. Compared to a lot of EC's I see around here, I look lacking. The reasoning behind no clubs or NHS is because I'm homeschooled. Soooo hopefully I can pick up those EC's a little bit. Thanks in advance for taking the time out to chance.

Your GPA is great, and don’t worry too much about your ECs. You don’t need a lot - you just need to show dedication to the ones you have. If you add a ton of stuff now it’s probably going to look like you’re just doing it to get into college. Your SAT isn’t great for such selective schools, but your ACT is pretty good. If you knock your essays out of the park and get some fantastic recs I think you’ve got at least a shot at some of them. I’d say you’re probably going to get into Rutgers, you’ve got a good chance for UMaryland, but based on stats alone I wouldn’t say you’ve got a great chance of getting into the others. From what I’ve read most college admissions seem to be fairly holistic, so you’ve still got a chance at the others. If you can bring up that ACT score and write some killer essays then you’ve probably got a decent shot at getting into all of them.

Thanks! -bump-

-bump- Any more chances would be appreciated!
