I am only familiar with the California schools.
Cal Poly Pomona: Safety
Cal Poly SLO/UCSD: Match

Oh ya I forgot to mention. It’s for mechanical engineering but i’m also Chinese. Gumbymom would that change anything?
And also i’m working a part- time job my senior year.

I assumed your major was Engineering based on your HS classes and you are in-state for California schools. My chances stand. Here is the link for the UC GPA calculation: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Your 3.81 capped UCGPA is too low.

Cal Poly Pomona: low match
Cal Poly SLO: low reach
UCSD: reach
Carnegie Mellon: high reach

I am not familiar with the other schools.

What’s your. UW GPA? It seems like it’s highly unlikely for those schools except for Pomona.

My unweighted GPA is only a 3.575 but i did take 7 AP classes
But on your knowledge, what schools do you guys recommend for mechanical engineering that is a good safety school or a good match school?

Cal Poly Pomona would be a good Safety. I calculated your UC GPA 10-11th grades and I came up with a 3.87.
Match schools would be UCR/UCSC and my original chances were based on your fully weighted UC GPA not the UC GPA Capped. For ME, you want to have at least a 4.0+ UC GPA to be competitive. You might want to include UC Irvine and UC Santa Barbara. Your GPA is lower than average but your test scores are good. UCSD/SLO would be a Low Reach.

How about UCI, UCSB, UCD?
For OOS, Purdue, maybe UIUC?

I had Purdue on my list but not UIUC. What do you think my chances for Purdue and UIUC would be? Because their mechanical engineering ranking is around top 10 in the nation… so wouldn’t it be even harder to get in than Cal poly and UCSD? Do you know if they separate applications by major?

Those schools have very high admit rate unlike the UCs. So you have better chances there.
Not sure about UIUC but I think Purdue they accept to a general engineering program and then after freshman year you can select specific engineering major base on your GPA.

I reread your post, I think you have good chances at RIT and Drexel as well. But I’m not sure about CMU and Georgia Tech, they probably reaches.

Okay Thanks. I expected CMU and Georgia Tech as reaches. So then do you think Purdue and UIUC as high matches? or low reaches? Because my greatest fear is that my list is full of reaches and low matches… because the only thing i’m really looking at to decide is the ranking for mechanical engineering.
Btw the schools i listed above are only about half the schools.

Also by good chance for RIT and Drexel, what would that be?
