Hi, I am a senior. I would love to go to either of these schools. What are my chances at these schools?

Stats
ACT: 30, math 33, eng 28, reading 28, science 30

GPA: 3.8 weighted, 3.6 unweighted

Upward trend in grades with upward trend in rigorous classes

I took school more seriously 2nd semester junior year and got straight As with one AP and a couple honors. I discovered my love for math and took a summer precalc class at a local community college so I could take AP calc AB. I am taking seven classes this year. Of which, 4 APs, 2 honors classes.

I play baseball and golf (not being recruited)
I play guitar.
I volunteer at a childrens home.
I had great interviews with these schools.

Can someone answer me? Please help

you seem like you’re a match for all of them. your GPA is possibly a little low but if it’s an upward trend that should look fine; it also depends on how rigorous your HS is. i don’t really know how to interpret ACT scores, but you seem to be in the range of acceptance. while you don’t seem to have a guaranteed in at any of these schools, i think that you have good chances at all of them.

You will be in at all three. I have a friend at macalaster and he loves it. Go for it and enjoy yourself you should be proud.

Chance me back?

Macalaster is in.

The other two are more iffy. Your essays will make or break you at this point.

Agree…I would not necessarily say in at at least Oberlin. But you never know! Good luck!

rejected from Macalester, and waitlisted at st olaf. I feel very confident about st olaf, but since I got rejected from Macalester, I am not looking forward to April 1st when i get the letters from Kenyon, Oberlin and Carleton. My first choice is Carleton, and I am very nervous. I had a great interview, but I feel like I’ll be rejected from all 3

Wow, I would have predicted waitlist at Macalester rather than outright rejection. Anyhow, best of luck to you with your last three.

Mac’s applications went up some 40% this year, IIRC. Here is to hoping that the other adcoms see the spark in your essays that Mac missed.

So, I was rejected from Carleton as well. I got waitlisted at Kenyon. I am sending 4 more recommendation letters to Kenyon and St. Olaf, along with a personal letter. I had a phone interview with St. Olaf, which went very well. They are also aware it is my “first choice.” I have not heard from Oberlin yet, maybe later today when the mail comes. I am aware that this is the hardest year to get into school everywhere. (general stat) Does anyone think there is a good chance for Kenyon or St. Olaf?

Yeah–macalester was tough this year–D was waitlisted with 3.96 GPA UW, Full IB diploma load, and 660/670/750 SAT, great interview, EC’s, sports etc. It was her top choice and she was sad–but given how CSS financial aid is working out for us, it might be a blessing in disguise! So I’m not surprised about the decision, but that’s a real bummer to deal with. Hope you got in somewhere that will work for you!
