Chance me? class of 2022

hi! I’m from a small town in TN and I’m trying to go to college all the way in CA(: I applied regular decision to scripps and I’m wondering what my odds are. My stats are: 34 ACT, 4.0 UW GPA, 4.6 W GPA, 700 SAT Math 2 Subject Test, 680 SAT Ecological Biology Subject Test, three 4’s on AP exams and one 5 (English Language and Composition). I’m involved in student council, band, mu alpha theta, Young Democrats, and my church’s session. I am a part of my school’s national honor society and I am ranked 8th in my class of nearly 500. I know it all depends on those essays, but I’m curious to know if my stats match those of current Scripps students!

You probably know from the published stats that your grades and scores are in the top quartile (at least) for Scripps. Plus, you have “geographic diversity” on your side. If you are not a candidate for need-based aid, then I think it’s likely that you’ll be offered a merit scholarship. ($27K/year was the max last year.) It tends to be either-or, though - most of Scripps’ merit money goes to students who would otherwise be full-pay. (So if you qualify for need-based aid, expect to pay your full EFC.)

That said, Scripps does look for their own perception of “fit” in a student’s essays and interests. I’d be surprised if you didn’t get in, but there have been students with stats like yours who have posted about being rejected, while students with lower stats got scholarship offers. So, nobody can say for sure… but I’ll also say anecdotally that the only anomalous rejections I’ve seen have been Californians, not students like you from under-represented areas of the country. I don’t think you have much to worry about.
