Chance Me: CoE 2023 EA, Freshman, 3.87, 1430 SAT, IS

I feel relatively confident in most of my areas expect for my SAT which I will be retaking in December. I hope to continue with either mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering when I pass the FYE course.

I’m a girl and I’m Mexican in a very, very non-racially diverse school. I’ll be graduating a year early ahead of most students my age (should be a junior!).

Class Rank: 25/150
Unweighted GPA: 3.87
Estimated Weighted: 4.22
SAT: 740 in Reading/Writing, 690 in Math
AP Exams: 4 in World History, 3 in English Language.
Currently taking AP’s: Calc AB, Psych, Euro History, Physics C Mechanics, English Lit.
Overall I’ll take 7 of the 10 AP classes offered at my school.
I have a steady upward trend in GPA and will most likely graduate with Highest Honors.

FIRST Robotics
9-12th grade, and have served as Strategy Lead, Drive Coach, and Team Captain.
We run about 6 hr/wk in our offseason (about 40 weeks) and about 22 hr/wk in season (12 weeks)
I handle finances, scheduling, and all community service events within the team (which is about 60 something kids and 12 mentors).

I’ve overall achieved about 150 hours of community service within my community so far, including presenting at an AAUW workshop, supporting events for the FLL and FTC teams in my district, helping at summer community events, and helping spread the Vial of Life Project for elderly citizens in my community. I project to end with about 180-190 hours by the end of this year.

I’m a 2-year-member of my NHS chapter and a 3 year member of my Science Club but don’t spend more than 2 hr/wk at either year round. I’ll b e participating on my school’s Science Olympiad team for the first time this year.

I participated in a 5 day/40 hr internship at a local university with a professor in Computer Science.

I work close to home at about 8hr/wk (35 weeks) and 20 hr/wk (17 weeks).

Overall we are a really small school district Downriver in-state and we have about 15 kids that go to U-M every graduating class, most for engineering. A lot of my friends have been accepted with similar scores but I’m not as confident in my scores as they are. In addition, I was invited for this HAIL Interview with an engineering alumni by the school if that helps. Thank you!
