Essays/LORs/Other
Very Good Essay (told my many different people and I am confident in it)

Good covid statement that explains why my grades drop during covid (family member passing). Goes well with straight A’s senior year and 1540 SAT

No cost constraints

Schools
ED1: Colby (submitted)
Reach (ED2?): Middlebury, Bates, Hamilton
Target: Holy Cross, Lafayette, Franklin & Marshall
Safety: Fordham (Submitted EA), Trinity, Conn College

Maybe Bates ED2 - maybe.

I like F&M and Holy Cross for you.

You go to an elite school so check with your GC - your school may outkick the normal coverage.

Good luck.

You won’t be rejected ED!. I’d say 40% chance you get in, 60% chance you are deferred to RD. I’m assuming that unweighted, your grades are lower, and that’s what they look at. But if those are good for your school, maybe it’s fine. It sounds like you go to a school they would know and that you have extenuating circumstances.

Your ECs are mostly athletic, and in the ED round, they are admitting the recruited athletes, so while they are good ECs, it doesn’t round out the class.

Good scores, SAT and AP, show you can do the work.

I could see it going either way but sm leaning toward a deferral. I hope I’m wrong. You’ll hear soon. Let us know!

What is your unweighted GPA, core courses only, on a 4 point scale?

I don’t see any safeties on your list…I assume your HS sends many students to Fordham each year?

Unweighted GPA is 3.43

Fordham typically accepts anyone above 2.7 weighted from my school because we are their prep school so they tend to snap up our students.

I will defer to your school’s record of acceptances that show Fordham as a safety. Will you be happy to attend Fordham? I think Lafayette is a reach with a 3.4 and would categorize Trinity as a target. Good luck.

Thank you!

Hopefully I get in but we’ll see. I’m feeling like probably a deferral, especially after seeing how tough BC was this year. I hope that doesn’t point to a nationwide trend.

Judging from past years, I think the decision will be out on Friday.
