WU at St. Louis
Emory

THANKS

Chances are okay at all of the above, but you need a safety school, because kids with your stats could get rejected everywhere.

columbia - rejected
barnard - not sure
brown - rejected
u of chicago - match
northwestern - waitlisted
johns hopkins - rejected
vanderbilt - match
WashU - match
Emory - waitlisted

Yeah, consider a safety and you'll be okay!

thanks, of course im gonna have safety schools and i didnt list them because they are, infact, known safetys.

anyone else? i'd really appreciate it

bumppp.....

Are these "national youth leadership" things really all that impressive? Anyone can nominate yourself, and you have to pay thousands of dolllars... sounds like a money-making scheme to me.

Also, have you had any leadership positions in those ECs?

^Agree with both posts on top

yes i have run the outing and science club for the past two years and will again next year, i was a managing editor for the yearbook this year and will either be business or managing editor next year. and i will probably be a head of the volunteering project i'm apart of (with the mentally handicapped children) and possibly the leader of the teen mentoring program

about NYLF programs, they offer experiences you otherwise would not be able to have. In addition to making really close friends, you can participate in activities with a diverse group of people while learning new things in a unique setting. Also, I was able to shadow several doctors at different hospitals and have tours of various facilities in the boston area that aren't open to the general public. yes they do cost a lot of money, but its a great opportunity, regardless of how easy it is to participate

bump.. please?

uhm, i'm pretty sure you can't apply to both barnard and columbia, barnard is slightly easier to get into but the the experience and education are very much the same. if you're not looking to go into some kind of engineering (and therefore apply to SEAS) i'd apply to barnard.

PSAT is a tad weak, and yeah definitely need to get safeties, and a couple of matches, you could realistically go 0 for 9 with that list.

^ you can most definitely apply to both columbia and barnard. they are separate entities, though affiliated.
