CHANCE ME: CORNELL, GEORGETOWN, TUFTS, & UCLA

These are my reaches (at least they are reaches for me lol). I’m going to be a senior in a matter of weeks and wanted to know if some of these schools are even worth applying to. I know that admissions for a lot of schools are random and no one’s reply on this forum can really totally guarantee I’ll get denied or accepted but I wanted to hear some of your thoughts  ALSO I haven’t taken a subject test… should I?

GPAs (all weighted) PSA My school weighs weird i dont know why! :
Freshman year GPA - 3.95
Sophomore year GPA- 4.22
Junior Year GPA - 5.29
Senior - TBD
cumulative - 4.6-4.7

I got straight A’s my junior year and took AP psych, AP enviro, Pre IB AP medical intervention, H spanish 4, H english, H gov/econ, H adv dance (it’s a thing at my school lol), and CP Algebra 2 (it’s really hard to move up math levels at my school)
Next year I’m taking 2 APs again AP human geo and AP Lit and the rest honors except for math

My test scores aren’t great → 27 on the ACT so far but I plan on breaking 30 when I take it again in june & july

ECs: President of the feminist club, VP of outreach (we teach under privileged kids student made health lesson plans), HOSA/HEAL, spanish national honor society, dance national honor society, english national honor society, regular national honors society, I’m going to have a job this summer, I won the award for US Gov H and Spanish 4 H because of my performance in both of these classes, positive spirit award and choreography showcase winner in dance, dance club, freshman helpers club (shows freshman around when they come to high school), high holiday choir, I played 2 JV sports for 2 years but stopped my junior year because of workload, I feed the elderly on thanksgiving, I studied abroad this summer in Israel for 6 weeks, and I worked on a lot of biomedical projects throughout the years.

I know I am going to have good REC letters because my teachers told me they would write me good REC letters and I just fyi if it helps I plan on going Pre- med. Also, I am a pretty good writer so my essay should be good.

THANKS  !!!

Also feel free to suggest schools!

Depending on which college you are applying to at Cornell, subject tests may be required. I can’t speak for the other universities on your list. Your ACT will need to come up a lot to be in the ballpark. Most schools will also look at your unweighted GPA. Work on finding match and safety schools. All of the schools on your list are reaches for everyone.

My unweighted GPA this year is a 3.92/ 4 (my school only sends weighted but I know colleges recalculate them) I have other schools on my list that are more in reach but these were just my really high reaches. Do you think it’s even worth applying to these schools?

Everyone should have a couple of reach schools. If you can get your ACT up, go for it. Just be realistic about it being a reach and have other schools you love on your list. If you are going to be pre-med take AP chem if you are able. I would have also suggested AP Physics but calc is usually a pre-req. If you are considering applying somewhere binding early decision, I would suggest looking hard at the common data sets for the schools on your list and seeing where you have the best match. I’m a bit concerned about your course rigor in STEM courses.

I can’t take AP physics or AP chem (I took H chem sophomore year and I struggled a bit- and I know I’ll have to take chem being pre med and all but I’ll work extra hard and tutor of course) maybe AP- Bio but my schedule is already filled up so probably not :frowning: anything else I can do?

also, what do you think of emory?
