SCHOOLS
Johns Hopkins
Case Western Reserve
Stanford
Duke
Georgia Tech

Biomedical Engineering major / Engineering Undecided

Whaddaya think? Surely I can get into at least one of these schools, right?

I’d say Stanford is a reach and Duke is a low reach/high match, but you’re pretty much a match for John Hopkins, GA Tech, and CWR. If you want to do bio-med engineering, John Hopkins would be your best bet.

@Humraj: yeah I would love to go BME at JHU, but it’s the most competitive BME program that exists. There are only ~100 seats; only 1/3 of accepted applicants that applied for BME are offered a spot in the program.

That said, I put more effort into my JHU app than any other. I want it bad.

Stanford and Duke are reaches. Stanford engineering is very competitive and you don’t really have any EC’s that relate to it so I’d say it’s a pretty high reach. Duke is a little less competitive and I think you have a shot. GTech and JHU aren’t as competitive and I think you have a good chance at both. I don’t really know much about CWR, so I can’t say much about it, but I see it has a very high acceptance rate.

Johns Hopkins - High Match
Case Western Reserve - Safety?
Stanford - Reach
Duke - Low Reach
Georgia Tech - Match

Thank you for the insightful comment, BBanks!

I agree, Stanford is a high reach. My only hope is that they see passion in addition to substantial intellect and knowledge in my application. The only way I might stand out academically is my dual enrollment pursuits, and even that isn’t too great.

bumping! Also, add UMich to the list. I don’t know too much about their engineering but I’m considering applying before the February first deadline!
