I'll be completing Grade 12 with the IB Diploma this year, but....well, my subject choices are crap and my grades have long since committed harakiri. My counselor told me, very frankly, that I didn't have a Homer's chance in a Prohibition state of getting into a good college. But I'm not going to lose heart and give up so easily. I'm considering taking an extra year to improve my academic record, and voila, here I am. Now, without any further ado, the stats:

Subjects: Grade (/7):
English A1 HL: 6
History HL: 6
Economics HL: 5
Spanish AB SL: 6
Physics SL: 5
Math Studies: 6

SAT1: 2160
SAT2 World History: 790
SAT2 Literature: 620

Extracurriculars:
8 years piano with ABRSM certificate of merit
4 years environmental club
1 year Hospital internship

Athletics:
1 year Karate

Other Info:
International applicant
NOT applying for financial aid, i.e. I'll pay the full cost.

So...chance me? Please? I realize my chances may not be all that great, but I would greatly appreciate it nonetheless if you took a few minutes to chance :)
Of course, all advice, opinions and constructive criticism is most welcome @_@
Or just wish me good luck :)

Also, one additional question. In the above schools, should I apply for Grade 12 or PG (Postgraduate)?

Thanks in advance, and a very happy new year to all of you!
If I get into the schools, I will of course send cookies to all :D

You had me at cookies, haha. I think your stats look nice, you seem very nice. Stats may be important but I think you should consider your recommendations, essays, and interview. Getting to know what type of person you are is important to the school’s process. I don’t know if your grades are good enough though from what you say. The IB diploma will definitely help your chances though. I think you have a good chance at those schools but Choate is by far your best shot. Good Luck! Inbox me if you want!

Hahaha. cookies. I love that! Good luck- no one can tell for sure what’s going to happen, so work hard on those essays and prep for the interview. :)

I don’t understand though why your college counselor told you you have no chance. Your stats look pretty good. What is really bad on your resume?

I just saw your from Saudi Arabia, which definitely raises your chances, schools love kids from countries they normally don’t get students from…

@magusalex, thanks a lot for the feedback
I’m praying I get into Andover, but Choate would be nice too.
My resume isn’t actually all that terrible, but my counselor is a man with 22 years experience with college counseling all over the world, so I take what he says pretty seriously XD
I live in Saudi Arabia, but I’m Indian. the media shows a negative impression of this place, but in the past 18 years I’ve found that the people here are actually very nice and kind, not at all like on CNN XD

@98beebee, haha, thanks, I’ll work as hard as I can! :D

You better send me cookies, I’ll pm you my address. Hahah just kidding.

But honestly, I don’t see how I can correctly “chance you” but I’m posting to address your question about which grade to apply to. I think it’s in your best interest to apply PG, if the whole goal is to wait another year for college. If you repeat 12th you will be put into a group of people that have known each other for a while and are getting ready to say their goodbyes. I think I would feel awkward in that position as a new senior. Also, if you are applying PG there will be other new PGs that didn’t graduate as a senior at Andover.
