Chance me for Barnard (and *chances* are I'll reciprocate :) )

Woah that’s an impressive resume! I don’t think you’ll have a big problem with Barnard, especially because you’ve focused so much on helping girls women specifically. Good luck!

@inglebert Thanks!

You’re in! I’d advise raising that SAT math score if possible, maybe by taking the New SAT. Everything else is up to par (to say the least).

@ambitionsquared I sure hope so. Trying to use my Jonas-bought time to cram a bit more as we speak!

Though the curve might kill me–East Coast, likely high achieving juniors like myself. Shudder.

Wow! Your GPA and rank are downright AMAZING. I would say you have a great shot if you improve your SAT score, maybe to at least 2150-2200. Good luck

@wormholes Thank you! I’ve scored 2170 on a few practice tests (lucky number, I guess) so we’ll see how it goes. Going to try for the ACT as well–similar minded friends did better on it than the SATs, but it’s different for everyone I suppose.

@calmom Not sure if this is proper CC etiquette, but I’ve seen on the forums that you have a daughter who attends (attended?) Barnard, and you always leave such thoughtful responses. I would love some advice if you have any to give!

Your gpa and class rank are superb assuming you can get that math up you have a fantastic chance. Best of luck!
Chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1851091-chance-me-please-p2.html

Similarly @woogzmama, as an alumna yourself, what do you think about my chances? I know these things are fickle but I’d love to get the broadest perspective possible (as I am in no financial position to spend $300 an hour on a college admissions session with the local private counselor, and seem to be caught in a dreadful procrastination spiral  )

rougesneakers - I graduated many years ago, and would not have the faintest prayer of getting in today. You would have been a sure-shot until very recently, and I think your chances are excellent, but I am not in close contact with any admissions officers, and I’m reluctant to issue any authoritative pronouncements on the matter.

@woogzmama Thank you for the advice, though I’m sure you underestimate your abilities!

Bump (I will chance back!)

@2barnardbabes I KNOW YOU DON’T DO CHANCE POSTS BUT I’M DESPERATE––I want to attend Barnard so much it HURTS MY VERY SOUL and I’m just curious if you think I’m comparable to either of you when you applied or the student body in general (though I’d hope & assume no one sits around discussing SAT II scores at Barnard). I just want to be let down easy (so I can stop ranting to my friends and teachers about how much I love the school and sporting my Barnard t-shirt) or have that extra push at the end(ish) of my junior year. I’m bummed your AMA post was closed, the other one was started in 2013, it would be nice to have a recent one. You probably won’t see the last of me here, I have so many more questions that I don’t want to bother my lovely regional advisor about

Your ECs and Stats have lowered my self esteem in regards to academics -_-

I think you have a great chance! I think Barnard will be able to overlook one math score–your English scores surpass their average so that should compensate. I think you have a great chance, and I hope we both get in and can meet in real life (LOL) good luck wherever you go!

@eh1124 Oh, please! You have plenty of time and some amazing ECs. I envy you STEM folk, standardized testing is moving in your direction–the literary old guard is falling! You’ll do great come March.

@leadergirl19 Crossing my fingers for both!

“the literary old guard is falling!” best sentence I’ve read in a while

Your extracurriculars are stellar. AND you are just a junior. I would say you have great chances, especially since there’s time to pull up that math grade. Best of luck to you!
