Hi,
I am an international student , a 12th grader, from India, and am considering Barnard and NYU as my foremost choices for college. However, I am confused between the two. Due to these doubts, I am not sure if I should apply ED to any one of them. Will that lower my chances of admission? I have yet to take the AP exams this week and SAT Subject Tests next month, but I have the following to my credit:
- SAT: 2060 (CR-670, M-630, W-760)
- Grade 9 GPA: 10/10 (95%), Grade 10 GPA: 9.4/10 (89.3%) and Grade 11 (Humanities): 89.6%
- I am the editor-in-chief cum founder of an online, not-for-profit journal
- I am the director of a non-profit organisation that aims to address social justice issues in India.
- I am the poetry editor of two journals
- I am an attendee of the Oxford Prep Experience, Cambridge Tradition, Iowa Young Writers’ Studio and will attend University of Virginia’s Young Writers’ Workshop this summer.
- I have won two international awards for my poems
- I have over 60 publications to my credit, but more recent ones in better magazines like Souvenir, Drunk in a Midnight Choir etc.
- I was a part of the Student Government last year.
- I have done 5 edX courses, 4 from Harvard and I from Boston University. I scored 100% in 4 of them, and 95% in one of them.
- I am the founder and director of a literary society in my city.
- I have published two books, one in Grade 6 and a poetry collection in Grade 9.
- Plus, no one from my school in the past 8 years has been accepted to any foreign university.
I am looking forward to pursuing Comparative Literature and Creative Writing in college. I would be really thankful if you could chance me. I am apprehensive as to whether I will make it to any Ivy Leagues, even though I am thinking of applying to a few.
Thanks!
