GPA is far too low but the SAT does help. I’d say borderline but then again- I think it’s idiotic to ask a bunch of strangers what they think while 98% of us have never worked in college admissions…

I’m not trying to be harsh, but I’m not going to use euphemisms, and beat around the bush. BC is very selective, and unless you have some extenuating circumstances for those GPA’s freshman and sophomore year I’d say your chances are pretty much shot. Even your junior year GPA is a bit low for the average admitted applicant at BC. The worst part is, is that, your have really high SAT scores! Low GPA and High SAT’s come off as a sign of pure laziness to college admissions and you most likely will not be admitted unless you have a good explanation as to why your GPA is so low.

In addition, there’s no trend in your extra curriculars. They seem somewhat varied and scattered. '

HOWEVER, like G185099 said, none of us have ever worked in admissions. And I hope you do get it, and if you do, please do come back to this thread and tell us that you were admitted. It’ll be an instance in which I’m glad to know I’m wrong. Good luck :)

Is there a reason that freshman sophomore year are significantly lower than junior year? you don’t have to answer on here, but think about that because if there is a reason then you should send a letter explaining.
For instance, i have a friend who has got a really low GPA freshman and sophomore year because of illness, family issues, etc. and she wrote an appeal explainning her situation.
Otherwise, I wouuld say just kill your essay and i guess you will just see what happens! good luck!

~90% of all BC students were in the top decile of their class. The rest attend a nationally recognized HS (such as TJ), are hooked applicants and/or recruited athletes.

BC has plenty of high test scores, and is unlikely to chase yours.

And no, not having an official class rank is no help. Adcoms will look at your School Profile and intuit a rank.

And no, not an odd applicant at all. Just someone who is really bright, but took a couple of years to start doing HS work. There are thousands just like you.

btw: I would not go around bragging (or even joking) that your brother’s friends at Harvard wrote your college essays. BC is a Jesuit school, and they take academic honesty seriously. I would assume that Fordham does as well.

I would say that you need some more service-type activities on your resume. BC LOVES community service. Showing that you can be a leader in the classroom, in clubs or activities, and ESPECIALLY doing service in and around your community will make you a triple threat. Even though your GPA seems low, keep working on it to bring it up. In the meantime, work on condensing your list of activities down to the few things that you love instead of spreading yourself thin and doing everything you can. That is what I did, and I am an accepted student currently.

Quality > Quantity

That’s what is going to get you into BC, among other things.

I already applied, but I did do a large amount of community service, I just didn’t put it on my resume. Also, my senior year first semester GPA was 93.125 or 3.66 unweighted, bringing my cumulative to a 3.15. What do you think I should do?
