I'm not going to list all of my EC's right now because I have stuff to do, but I will list a couple.
-Volunteered at multiple hospitals and a school in Puerto Rico. (30+ hours)

Cross Country 4 years and Soccer for 1

10 Years of Piano

Here's my hook, I've always had a strong passion for Spanish. During the summer before sophomore year I contacted some of my friends in Spain and ended up living with one of their families for the entire year. Everything was in Spanish, I was the only English speaker there, and it was not done through a program. By the end of the year I had become fluent in the language which I believe is a big accomplishment. All of my essays are focused on my passion for the language and the hardships of living somewhere at 14, with no other Americans or English speakers. All of it was self-study and I am the only one in my family who is bilingual.

Ethnicity: Caucasian
School: Private Jesuit High School in Philly. Known as the most difficult school in the region. Great connections with schools like UPENN and Georgetown.

I live in Pennsylvania so I know that will affect my chances. Thanks!

Edit: I will be applying to all of these schools as a Spanish major. No financial aid needed and I will be visiting these schools come December.

bump…

bumping again…

Jeez my thread is on the second page again…bump

Definitely UCSB. Probably USC. Possibly UCLA, and I don’t see anything that hinders you from getting into Berkeley. (you don’t have to submit all SAT scores) I thought you do, but theres an option on collegeboard that, right before you pay, shows you a list of the schools you are sending to and says which scores. It will say all, but you can click that and select which one(s) you want to send. Good Luck!

That sounds like a good list for your stats. I would check into UCSD and UCI as well, they are in great neighborhoods and have good academics. It is easy to add a couple more UCs to the mix. I think you might also like Loyola Marymount, it’s very close to the beach, it’s smaller than the UCs but it is nice and would be more of a safety as well as USD.

Thanks for the replies guys. As a safety I’ll be applying to Santa Clara University. Hopefully I can get into USC though because they offer a lot of money, and the UC’s offer little to none to OOS students.

I thought about Santa Clara, there is also USF as a safety.

As far as I know the UCs are not going to give an OOS money. You might want to check into the private schools more if you need aid. Just remember the safety should not be neglected on your list and it should be affordable.

I might apply to USF. And I’m hoping to get money from Santa Clara because they tend to give scholarships to students with a 1400+ SAT on M and CR.
