Are you from India?
If you are, can you please coet on my 9.6 Gpa… Dont know how ot will affect me

Yep, Hindustani.

The 9.6 shouldn’t really hurt you. Your SATs and 11th grade academics are stellar. Focus on your 12th grade exams too, and you’ll be good to go. You’ve improved from 10th to 11th, which is indeed a positive thing.

Oh sorry, I am not too familiar with the Indian education system. Couldn’t comment on your CGPA without understanding how the system works. You’ve obviously already reached the threshold where grades and test scores don’t matter (and reached the HIGHEST level possible, in my opinion). Now you just need to think about how you will present your application.

If American unis were like IITs, then perhaps the “chancing” thing would be different. But they’re not. So therefore, all those schools are reaches. Your American status, however, still will help you in admissions at Penn, Cornell (for financial aid only), Brown and other need-aware-for-internationals Ivies.

I recommend you add matches and safeties to your list (also, please understand that colleges like Tufts, though slightly less well-regarded than the Ivies, aren’t necessarily matches due to the very high competition from students as distinguished as you). Georgia Tech would be good as a match. Please do look into some liberal arts colleges as well.

Also, yes, journeyinwards is correct. If you plan to study engineering, Dartmouth, Yale and Brown’s engineering programs would pale in comparison to those of the other Ivies and of Harvey Mudd and such. Apply selectively. If you want to do engineering, you should look into Northwestern. They have a solid program and have outstanding recruiting.

Good luck!

PS Freshman year will not be bothered with in admissions too much. Not at all, usually.

Thank Youuuu!!

Wow you surely will get what you want. And while I was browsing through the forum I stumbled upon the following thread. Hope it helps you!

P.S- I am eagerly waiting for the NTSE details you said you would mail me.

@athemyabha, I sent it to you already. Your email ID is:
athemyabha@********** or abhaymehta@**********?

Oh! I didn’t get it. It’s athemyahba@********** (google).

Wow you’re still awake.

Can anyone please send me a link where I can view resumes of previous caltech or mit applicants?
I want official resumes with essays and all, if possible.

PS I already saw the CC pages.

Do you have a sister in X?

Well, yes but umm… Email would be better

As you wish.

Cal Tech: Low Reach
MIT: Reach
HYP, Columbia: Reach
Penn, Brown, Dartmouth: Low reach
Cornell: Solid chances

Thank You @20more!

Hey , can you send me the NTSE material too? I think you are a genius and your advice will really help me …

Just study hard with focus, and you’ll get through my friend…

@mathsoul, I am NOT a genius. Not even close to being one. :)

^CaltechJPL - Did you give NTSE in 10th??

Yes, I gave it in 10th!

Your extracurriculars are the best I’ve ever seen. You’ll definitely get into at least 3 of these schools.
