Chance me for Chapman, USC, UMiami, UCLA, UCSB, UT Austin?

Can someone chance me for the following schools?
Chapman
USC
UMiami
UCLA
UCSB
UT Austin

So far I've been admitted to Tulane (honors with a sizable scholarship)

White female from a VERY competitive California private school (ranked in the top 10 most challenging schools in the nation)

GPA: 3.46 weighted, don't know unweighted. (my school weights weirdly and the highest possible weighted GPA someone could have is a 4.3, my 3.46 puts me in the fourth quintile though my school doesn't technically rank)
ACT: 36
SAT: 1460/2190
SAT II: Chemistry- 670, English Lit- 690, Math II- 770
Extracurriculars:
Hip Hop Dance Team 4 years (Head of Fundraising junior year, Captain this year)
FBLA 2 years (the club only began my junior year) (VP this year)
Jazz Dance Team 2 years (Captain this year)
~100 hours of volunteering with Relay for Life (Team Captain and Chair of the Luminaria Ceremony)
Successful Nail Art blog with ~1000 followers, featured in the school arts magazine for my designs

Essays and recommendations will probably be strong

thanks!

well that’s not especially constructive. anyone else?

Your GPA is way too low for UCLA and USC, and probably low for UCSB, as well. Your ACT score is fantastic, but your GPA suggests that you don’t apply yourself in school.

However, if your GPA really is weighted weirdly, I suggest calculating your UC GPA for a better image of what your chances at LA and SB really are.

if this gives any better perspective, the average admitted GPA for UCSB is 4.07 but for students from my school the average accepted GPA is 3.71. kids at my school are generally told that colleges are familiar with our school and lenient with GPA since it is widely known as academically rigorous.

3.45 is less than 3.71, nonetheless. Probably a low reach for SB.

does anyone have any thoughts on any of the other schools i listed?

I’m applying to all the california schools you listed, so if anyone else has input on my stats/chances, that’d be helpful too!
as far as a reply to your question… my stats are listed below, and i just got asked for fall semester grades for EA Chapman application, which I think means i didn’t even make the first evaluation/ decision group. :/

cityofangelsqt what major are you applying for?? it seems very strange that chapman would ask you for your fall grades…

i am applying undecided to all the schools! I know! Not gonna lie, I’m kind of freaking out!

really? i thought having 3 leadership roles in fairly high commitment clubs would mean SOMETHING… and my guidance counselor as well as an admissions officer from chapman have told me the blog is interesting and unique… i also TA a Japanese class as well as a beginning dance class. are you saying that it’s my gpa combined with my extracurriculars, or my extracurriculars alone are the issue?

Chapman: Match
USC: Low reach
UMiami: High match
UCLA: Low reach
UCSB: High match
UT Austin: Mid-high match

i actually agree with bigtimeseller232. You’re EC’s are very basic. 3 leadership roles is not a lot. I have 15 and am still questioning if I am going to be admitted to chapman

i’ve never heard anywhere that having lots of extracurriculars is more desirable for college admissions than being very involved in several activities… some schools don’t even let you list more than 5 or so extracurriculars because it’s very unlikely that someone can actually be fully invested in so many activities on top of school work… how did you even list your 15 for chapman? they’re on the common app which only allows you 9 or 10, no?

oh i also am very involved in school dance planning committees and i have singlehandedly designed a homecoming float and choreographed a parade for my class for the past 3 years

For all of the schools I applied to, I sent them my resume. And yes, I have 15 but that does not mean I wasnt fully invested in them. I was VERY involved in all of them. I am just saying that your EC’s are basic and don’t exactly stand out. It is okay if you only have a few, but there needs to be a standout somewhere in that.
Examples for me:
Soccer: i was a starter and captain of travel and school teams
track and field: varsity competitor since freshman year
voice: for numerous years, every week private vocal coaching and performance
choir: i was a part of a nationally recognized choir that competed and performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall and Orchestra Hall
acting: i have been training since middles school for theater and have been involved in over 12 productions, for on-camera acting i have been professionally trained and have gotten work on national commercials, as well as an agent
national honors society: 70 hours minimum of service, leadership/volunteerism
Class Board: vice president who carried out planning of prom, school fundraisers, and adopt-a-family foundations, designer of 1st place homecoming float for 2 years
dance: trained on broadway
those are just some examples of details of my EC’s

well my admission status for chapman says decision reached as of the 12th, so i guess we’ll see soon enough!

Best of luck!!! and good luck for your other schools too!

good luck to you too!

Just an update, I got in! With a scholarship too. Hope you had good news too, cityofangelsqt!
