PSAT - 229. Anticipating NMF status

Will any of this translate into acceptance/financial aid?

Thank you!!

I think you have a great shot. Your scores are far above their middle 50 percentile, which is

SAT Critical Reading: 550 / 650
SAT Math: 560 / 660
SAT Writing: 570 / 670

Plus you have decent extracurriculars and will likely be a NMF.

Chapman: Safety

Now you can aim higher…

Is film your intended major? You probably know the film school at Chapman is very competitive with only a small number admitted each year. But I’d say you’re a match.

My verdict was for something other than film…

OP said he/ she makes films and screenplays, so I’m guessing would be considering Chapman for the (highly regarded) Dodge College of Film & Media Arts. Hollywood Reporter has it ranked as the #7 film school in the world now. Only 30 students were in the freshman screenwriting group last fall.

There were 1176 applicants to all majors within Chapman’s Dodge College for the fall 2012 class (my son’s class). This was for all Dodge majors–broadcast journalism, digital arts, film production, etc. 404 applicants were admitted. If I’m doing the math right, that’s about 34%.

Op’s stats are excellent. He/she would likely have a great shot.
