Please chance me, I hope to attend Cooper Union in college, I am currently a Junior.

Did you apply for 2012-2013? Or are you planning to do a senior year of high school?

yeah i’m planning on doing a senior year, I just want to know how I stack up as of now

Retake your SAT I and study for SAT II (I suggest math 2 and physics, at least). Boost your GPA if possible. You’re certainly in the CU range, though.

SAT 1 is really iffy… you should at least be close to the CU average 2200 ish. And thats including some extrodinarily talented artists who didnt quite focus on academics. I’m guessing the engineering average is closer to 2250ish? these are all guesstimates and generalizations guys… dont shoot me XD
SAT IIs are also required… they specifically ask for it on the questionnaire.
Make sure you have some science/engineering activities.
Also, I’d like to say the questionnaire is really important simply because they want students who actually love/are seriously considering going to cooper.
Good luck!

Im a current freshman CE. trust me… SAT scores arent extremely important (i know some people <2000) but you do need good extracurriculars, APs, sat2 scores and a descent GPA. and im not too sure how closely they look at the questionaire questions because i did them the day before they were due

Most people have SAT scores of 2000+, usually around 2100, but I know some people who have close to 1900 and got in. Extracurriculars aren’t very important for most majors (ChemE, MechE), but I’ve noticed that most CivEs have done research or some other sort of outstanding extracurricular. Definitely get your average up though. Most people I know had 93+ averages in high school.

I’d like to disagree and say that the “questionnaire” aka part 2 of the application isn’t that important. Some people who get in don’t try very hard on it. But if you do a great job on it, it definitely won’t hurt.

The fact that you did do research at Cooper may boost your app, especially if you get a recommendation from a professor or someone from the school of engineering. I don’t know for sure though, because I don’t know anyone in my year who has done the summer research internship.
