Hey guys,
I know asking to be “chanced” is never a great idea but I really want some idea of whether I would be in with a chance at getting into AEM at Cornell.
I’m a UK student doing A levels, got 10A*s at GCSE (the highest score achievable - I’ve heard its equivalent to a 4.0 GPA?) Will be taking SATS next spring but in a mock I did I got 2090, not sure whether that’s good or bad tbh.
I have some decent ECs eg. been a rower for 4 years, debating club, young enterprise, volunteering, DofE
Would I have a chance at Cornell AEM? Since its the only US uni I’m looking to apply for I would have Early Application
Any thoughts appreciated
Once you have an SAT score it will come more into focus
Ok say I get a good score on the SAT eg 2200+ how likely would I be to be admitted?
Even a 2200 may not be enough.
Put your SAT goal higher (2250+).
Right, say I get 2300, do I have a chance?
Or in other words, imagine the SAT was not a factor in admission- would I have a chance?
Realistically to assume you will score in the top 1% of test takers worldwide is a tall task.
That will get Cornell to consider you. The rest of your background they will review to see if you are a fit.
There are hundreds of schools that could work for you - why Cornell?
Is Cornell really that competitive? I know it’s not ‘easy’ to get in but I heard it was the least selective Ivy League school? And on the Dyson website it says the average SAT score is 1414?! I’m confused about that
You should not put all your eggs in one basket! Spread them around. Even with perfect stats an ivy can easily reject you!
Thanks for that advice? I really like Cornell and want to do a business/economics major, I’m also considering Stern NYU or Wharton but I don’t think I would be good enough for Wharton!
I am also applying to 5 UK Unis so Cornell would sort of be an additional application if you see what I mean
Regarding your question earlier:
"…average SAT score is 1414?! "
I believe that is the sum of only two components (math + CR), as Cornell do not care about Writing part that much!
do you think I have a shot at Cornell? Provided I did well in the SAT?
Here’s the reality: you’re an international student, making those statistics not exactly accurate for what you need to achieve. I would agree with the person who suggested a 2250+ on the SAT. That is in the Cornell range.
