2) Volunteer Private Tutor for a "financially troubled family". Tutored a 3rd grade student in Reading Comprehension (his school grades improved dramatically). 91 hours total for a duration of 6 months.
3) Participated in the Annual NYC Korean Parade in Manhattan Freshmen and Sophomore year with my church (we actually paraded, rather than just spectate) from 41st street down the avenue to 23rd street. This event was in celebration of Korean Culture.

Extracurricular activities (in-school):
1) Junior Achievement of New York (as a junior): taught (the importance of community and the basics of finance) at an elementary school for a day. Prepared and presented 5 lesson-plans that day to a second grade class.
2) Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), (sophomore year - senior year):
Positions held: Chapter President (Junior & Senior Year), District 2 (NYC) Secretary (sophomore year), Ran for State Parliamentarian as a sophomore (was top 5 finalist, but didn't get the position in the end)
Awards Won: Placed top 2 in all my competitive events on a local level every year.

7) Jazz Band Club: 1st Trumpet, played in various events/concerts.
I have UNICEF club and Key Club also, but it's pointless listing them (because I wasn't that "active" in them).

Employment:
Private Tutor (Sophomore - Junior years): Tutored a 5th grade student in Reading Comprehension and in Mathematics.

Recommendations:
1) Sophomore Honors English teacher (she knows me well, and she knows how hard I work).
2) AP Spanish Language teacher.
3) Personal one from the activities director at the nursing home.

Common App Essay will be on my experiences at the nursing home and how it helped shape me as an individual, etc. (won't reveal much, but I will be sure to make it heart-felt yet humorous).

I plan on EA-ing for University of Chicago also (for Economics), please, if you can, "chance" me on that school as well.

Your feedback is really appreciated!!! Thanks.

Nycified:
I think you have a pretty good chance at ED to cornell. As long as you can tie your long list of ECs together in a well-thought out essay (science & econ), conveying your well-roundedness shouldn’t be a problem. IMPORTANT: make sure you are financially apt before ED-ing any place. EDs usually don’t receive a very significant financial aid package, so do consider that before committing.

I think you have a great chance, especially if your UW gpa is a 3.7+. You being an URM helps alot too, so I can definitely see you getting accepted.

Good luck! :)
