-Recs should be great
-Essays are unique

Honestly I would say you have a 80% chance. Pretty compelling EC’s wow dude. Good SAT Imo. GPA is ok.

Good job man you have everything you need imo

thanks for the input man!

bumpppppp!

I really disagree with that, especially the 80% part… Your GPA is okay, but can 2 B’s throughout high school really push it down to a 3.8? Your SAT isn’t that great, though. Your ECs and awards are all over the place, what are you planning to major in? It’s a lot better to show extensive commitment to a couple areas, rather than “a bit of everything”. I’d say Cornell is a reach for you. Maybe low reach, but nothing less than that. A great essay can really make a difference, but everyone describes theirs as “unique”, so I can’t say anything about yours.

Thanks for the input… I have two B+s and the rest were a’s and a-'s with like one a+, so yes, my 10th grade gpa wasnt that great… but my freshman and junior years, I’ve gotten mostly a+s with a few a’s, so that’s how that happened. Keep in mind as well, that by the time I graduate high school, I will have taken 10 ap’s. I can still retake my SAT, but i’ve only been thinking about it for now. I don’t really see how my ec’s are all over the place, though; i have leadership positions in a number of clubs, i am truly passionate about volunteering, and i play 2 very similar sports, also with a leadership position. I’m planning on majoring in biological sciences

@jhz1996 - I’ve seen a bunch of chances like this today. That was way to nice and unrealistic. I don’t want to be harsh to the OP, but I don’t think it’s an 80% chance at all.

Ivanov’s chance is pretty spot on. 2100 is pretty average for Ivies, they usually take 2200+. GPA is alright but could be better. Your ECs aren’t focused, although if you’re recruited for CxC or Track, you could have a good shot. I’d say Cornell is a reach right now, work on your SAT, GPA, and try to show some more dedication.

See, that’s what I mean. If you want to major in biological sciences, why haven’t you done anything related to it outside of school? Why not participate in some competitions? Try to find a research project? Take classes at a local college? Your may have leadership positions and sports, but Ivies really look for passion for learning, especially in a field you’re planning to major in.

thanks for the constructive criticism guys-i’ll look into a few science competitions or research projects

Cornell: low reach/reach

Why not just say Stuy or Tech or wherever you’re from.
