Chance me for CORNELL ENGINEERING

Hey guys,

Can y’all chance this profile?

the numbers—

3.75 UW GPA (please dont ask)
4.35 W GPA (extremely strong/consistent increasing trend)
2290 SAT (uh oh)
took like 9 AP’s and had 8 courses yearlong junior yr. 9, if you count the summer class.

everything else— i tried to orient my app solely around computer science. I’m hoping if my grades don’t stand a chance, these will~

-Finished with over a hundred in Computer Programming and AP Computer Science. Got a 5 on the AP CS test.

-Then went to UC Berkeley to take CS 61A, a class in the Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs. Finished that with an A.

-Interned at my dad’s software company.

-Then worked for a small app development startup and developed server-side modules for the app in C++.

-Wrote and patented two different works, one is an optimization algorithm at its core, and another is modification of a hardware component in laptops.

The theme here is that I tried to model progression through high school, after undergrad, and post degree research across the four years I had in high school.

Obviously there’s way more than CS going for me, but i only put the parts that i need evaluated on here.

also this is my brother posting from my acc

Yes, you’re going to have to make up for the grades. It’ll be hard, but not impossible. Cornell especially seems to be less stingy on GPA. I’d say you’ve shown a very strong interest and ability in computer science and you have a pretty good handle on the focus of your app so your chances are decent.

Recommendation letters would strengthen you app a lot. Could you get a recommendation letter from the app development startup?

Remember getting into top schools for popular majors is basically crapshoot. There are way too many qualified students for too few spots. However, with such a well developed focus, you will stand out from many of the applicants who just apply for prestige.
