I recently moved to USA, I didn’t have AP classes or any other classes of my senior year in old high school. I didn’t have DECA, robotics club or book club. Will the admissions office see this a negative or a positive? But as soon as I moved to USA(this month), I jumped right in and took in as many AP classes as I could and I am still in the process of joining clubs. For now, I have confirmed DECA and robotics.
I have safeties like ASU, Drexel. I just want to know what my chances are. I will take a look at the previous year results thread. If I have any chance, I will apply. I dont need financial aid.
For the Ivies or anything selective you will need to get that SAT score up. May want to also take a shot at the October ACT as well. Prep like crazy and do whatever it takes to improve your test score for Cornell or other Ivies. Fine with your safeties but better test scores will also improve merit scholarship opportunities. Good luck.
@ryanPA@my2caligirls You have no idea how crazily I’m prepping for SAT. I am getting my SAT scores up. Right now, I am scoring 1500 in the practice tests. Is there anything else I need to do to get into ivies? I dont know. Like join a few more clubs? And no. I wont do it only for the applications. I am interested in joining FBLA. I am still adapting to US high schools and still learning about the clubs over here
You need more extracurriculars that will make you stand out. Try to somehow prove (with the AP test/SAT 2) that you’re capable in the classes you got C’s in.
