I am looking to ED to CALS in Cornell what are my chances ?

i applied ED to CALS with a 93 GPA and 29 act 720 on USH subject test and 670 on Math1 and i had good extracurriuclars and evrything and took 7 APS and i was just denied the other day ED… so i would suggest highering ur gpa 90 is low for cornel

get GPA and test scores up

Retake the ACT and get at least a 30 on it, preferably a 31. Perhaps, if you have time, retake the Bio and Math II SAT Subject tests. If not, just retake the Math II subject test. REALLY work on your essays. Find a focus or subject of interest, and orient your application towards that. For instance, if you are very interested in biology or chemistry, then orient your application and essays to focus on your PASSION for the subject and what you have done/accomplished/learned/life-changing experience in the discipline.

Remember: an application is not about listing extracurriculars; it’s about how you sell them. Even the most trivial ECs can seem amazing if YOU gain some great insight on life from it.

Wait, I forgot you are a junior. Try to do the best you can in all classes this semester and next semester to boost up your GPA. Definitely retake the ACT and get at least a 30, preferably a 31 or 32. Retake the Bio and Math II subject tests and get at least 730 (use Princeton’s Review), preferably 750+. What AP tests are you taking? Take the Microeconomcs/Macroeconomics tests by self-studying if you can, as these are the easiest self-study AP courses. Maintain excellent student-teacher relationships this year and your senior year (you’ll need the recommendations from them) by answering questions, raising your hand, leading classroom discussions (read ahead a little and actually study). Really become a leader in your ECs, and try to hold some office position next year (president, vice president, secretary/treasurer). Take my advice on the applications above as well.

If you can accomplish all this, you will be in the 70th percentile of applicants to Cornell.

The science museum seems good. Probably use that as a focus for one essay.

Also, apply to some scholarships this year. Find them on Fastweb and *****************. Pay attention to the deadline and apply to scholarships you actually have at least a decent chance of receiving some recognition-this will be a subjective judgement based on your accomplishments, essay writing abilities, and common sense.

If you can even receive one recognition amidst 10 scholarships, that will look great on your college app next year.

thank you very much
