Chance me for Duke RD/ Penn RD/ Northwestern RD!!!!

Stats: (school does not rank)

Strength of High school: decent (wealthy) public school. Out of the 240 seniors, 30 got 30+ on ACT. School usually sends most students to in-state University of Michigan.

Race: Sinhalese-American (does this make me a minority? I'm not indian, but Sinhalese. My siblings say I'm not because I'm asian)

G.P.A uw: 3.93. Our school converts A-'s to 4.0s, but duke takes what you have, so they will see 3.93 on my transcript

8 AP classes by graduation. Rigorous schedule.
Senior Year course load includes 5 APs

ACT:
32 composite 10 essay (March testing)
34 composite 8 essay (April testing)
(i assume they'll look at the 34 composite and 10 essay)

Teacher Recs: should be sufficient, not stellar. both have known me for three years.
Counselor Recs: should be really good. She knows me better than most students, so I believe she'll write a pretty good one. She got a job at my school when I was a senior, so she's seen the mature side of me.

Academic honors:
National Honor society
Middle Years Programme (its like a mini-IB award) (i put it as an international award :P)
OAA Scholar Athlete
(this list is very slim, i know.)

Extracurriculars:
Member of three varsity teams (cross country, tennis, track)
-Tennis team placed 2nd and 3rd in the state (09/10)
-Captain of the Track and field team for two years
-Drum Major of the Marching Band
-Eagle Scout
-Section Leader of 4 ensembles (Symphony Band, Full Orchestra, Jazz Band, and the Pit band (for the musical)) and a sidenote: Our band played at Carnegie Hall last year.
-Member of a Quartet that consistently receives Division I ratings. The Quartet also received a nomination for the State youth arts festival.
-4 Years in Science Olympiad (durr... what CCer doesn't have this lul)
-4 Years in Quiz Bowl

Essays:
Common application essay was a personal statement. I feel it is very compelling because I talk about watching my older sister die and the lessons that I have learned from my experiences with her mental disabilities.

Duke/Penn/Northwestern supplemental essays: Not written yet :/

so what do you think? What areas should I hit upon in my Why Duke essay? (duke is my #1 reach school).

P.S. I won "Worst case of senioritis" in the senior mock election... my first semester senior year GPA is falling. I currently have three B+'s. What will they think of this? First quarter, I was booked with two varsity sports and leading the marching band, so my grades couldn't go any direction except down. I am now committing myself to raising these grades. These B+'s are in AP classes.

bumpppppppppppp

anyone want to chance? i’ll chance back.

Penn-mid reach
Duke-low/mid reach
Northwestern-low/mid reach

Focus on getting your grades up, and get some more volunteer/community service work. EC’s are pretty good.

low/mid reach means i have a good chance of getting in?
my match school is university of michigan.
my decision comes out this week or the next!

No, unfortunately any level of reach means most probably not.

Pretty good. I say low reaches for all. Focus on your essay and that should higher you chances.

pretty good grades and scores and ECS. you have a good chance! good luck on writing all the essays!

great ACT scores and ECs
im not an expert but id say

Duke- mid/low reach
northwestern- waitlist/ accept
university of michigan- accept
your essay sounds like a good topic so def work on that
