I am in a gap year right now, volunteered and worked so far. Probably going to try to improve ACT. Once I finish apps I am going to backpack Europe (not using in application, doing it for experience). Responses appreciated

Anyone?

Your test scores and GPA seem a little low but not too low to keep you out of NU. I’d give you a 40-50% chance ED which for NU honestly is pretty high.

Just hope the ACT won’t kill me for engineering

Please do not pay attention anything saying you have a 50/50 shot at getting in because you don’t. No one does and it isnt personal. You need your math to be stronger for engineering though.

@CaliCash Okay thanks. Does my math need to be stronger for engineering at all schools or just Northwestern?

It depends on how competitive the school is. For some colleges, a 30 is more than enough. At others, think CMU and Cornell, it wouldn’t be competitive.

What is the track record with Northwestern from your HS? If a 3.7 is 8th in the class, is it a fair guess there are not a large amount of kids going to “top” out of state schools?

Well I’m not sure that is useful for someone to gauge chances. I was the first person from my high school to get into NU.

@ClarinetDad16 You are 100% correct. @CaliCash Okay so basically if i can get up to a 33 I will be competitive for Cornell and Northwestern and such. Gotcha
