Chance me for exeter plzzzz....

Hey guys, I am applying to Exeter and Andover this year (I am in 9th grade this year.)and i would really appreciate it if you could...chance me :) i know it is not that accurate but either way... So:
I am a girl, from Europe, Albania.

All my marks since 6th grade have been A+ (we use another grading system but i have NEVER gotten a mark lower than the maximum mark.)

Math is the thing I am great at. I love Math. I am a Math Olympiad student. I have won the first prize in the regional olympiad since grade6 till grade 8. I have won the first prize in the National Math Olympiad in grade 6, 7 and 8.

I have learned AP Calculus, AP Physics A & B (by myself since not many opportunities are given in my country. :(

I have topped every ranking average score (at the end of each semester) in my school (in which i have a merit scholarship)

I am learning really hard about the SSAT and TOEFL (maybe i will also take ISEE. Again i have to go to a different country to give these tests.)and i hope for a very good score.

I play the violin. I am a very good player, and I have performed many pieces in different concerts.

I have also gotten the first prize on Turkish Olympiad.

I have been playing Volleyball for 5 years. I am in the "Tirana"(my city's name)volley club. I have been captain of the school team for the last two years and we actually won the Cup!

I have won the first prize on the Albanian Science and Engineering Fair last year(first time i participated.)and had a very good research for which i tired myself a lot.

I am the leader of the Drama Club. I got the first prize on School Rank and then National Rank last year on Interpreting, and the same this year on Best Essay.I really like these stuff.

I also have a thing about physics. I love it!! It inspires me. All i do all the time is watching videos and documentaries great scientists have done. I have read many of their books. I cannot convey what Physics, the universe, the mysteries, knowledge means to me. When i'm all grown up i will be a theoretical physicist.
I hope i didnt bore you. Thanks ...

Cool! I want to be an astrophysicist. I think you have a pretty good chance. Take a look at some other schools. I would highly recommend Hotchkiss. They have an amazing physics program!

Hey, that is awesome. I really love physics, and i am glad i find sb else who likes so much too. What are your favorite books… Who are your favorite scientists? :P

I think i will take a look at Hotchkiss. I have heard about it, but…still…Exeter remains my favorite, you know, they have a great math olympiad group and they also have an astronomy club and i absolutely love the courses. It is like Nerd Paradise :PP.

I like Michio Kaku and Richard Feynman! Have you read Physics of the Future and Physics of the impossible? They are both awesome books!

You sound like a strong applicant overall, but if you have your heart set on Boarding School, I would not apply only to Exeter and Andover and/or Hotchkiss. Considering they are all classified as “top schools” they all have VERY competitive admissions. Try to widen your search. They are many other schools just as strong as Exeter!

My first choice was Hotchkiss because they had some of the strongest physics, biology and economics programs (Math is very strong too) in NE and arguably, America. (Not to mention one of the most highly ranked debate teams in the world)

Good luck!

If you need any help, feel free to PM me!

Omg i love them both!
I have read those books and i totally love them! What about “Surely you’re joking Mr. Feynman” and “Beyond Einstein”? They are cool! :P
Yes, i did add Hotchkiss to my list  and i am looking at some others too.

Unfortunately, I’m not an aspiring physicist… :)

But, I read your post, and I think you have an excellent chance! It’s great you have such passion in math and science, and you have solid stats to back it up! I have a friend who goes to Exeter, and who is also a math genius. She LOVES it, and has shared some of her experiences with me. I might be able to answer any questions you have, about Exeter or BS in general, feel free to ask! Best of luck!

thanks a lot :))
i actually wanted to ask about the financial aid. does it lower the chances?.. if my family’s income is under 75000 $ per year do i really get a full aid?

and also, about sth else. If we say, I am accepted does it do any difference the fact that i have not attended 9th grade in there? I mean, will the others be a lot ahead…?
anyways, I would really appreciate it if you could answer these
thanks again

Since I got rejected from Exeter, I’m not too sure about how FA works there, you may want to ask some of the parents…

As far as I know: Yes, it probably does lower your chances. Many applicants apply, and the school has limited resources. If you get accepted, the school will definitely make sure you can attend financially. If your family’s income is under the 75000 mark, I believe you get full aid at Exeter.

You may be at a slight disadvantage coming in a year later, but you seem like a very bright student, and I’m sure you would catch up very quickly if you were accepted. In terms of chances, less people apply for 10th grade, but there are also less spots available. If you’re really worried about being behind, you could consider apply as a repeat 9th grader.

Hope I helped!

If you get in to Hotchkiss, the school promises to give you as much Financial Aid as you need.

thank you guys :)

Hey RockComet, I just graduated from Exeter this year. You sound like a very qualified student - we’re always looking for math/sciences people. You know of Mr. Zuming Feng, our amazing International Olympiad math coach?

Also where are you from? We’re also looking for diversity in our student body!

It’s actually because of the math science oriented programs that i really want exeter. I really think i can fit in there, and many opportunities will be given to me
I know of Mr. Zuming Feng, the very famous US team IMO coach  of course i do :stuck_out_tongue: i have been working on many of his books all this time. i am from europe

Any school that does not offer you admission will greatly regret it. I think you are pretty much a shoe-in! Every school would be absolutely lucky to have you!

You sound like a wonderful applicant to any school, but please be aware that the full financial aid for incomes less than $75K does not apply to international applicants. You might want to contact Exeter to find out what their FA policy is for internationals.

I have to second twinsmama, Best of luck to you!

U seem like a good candidate, wow, this is the type of people I’m going against?!

I’m applying as repeat ninth, are you going for 10th?

wow… hadnt come to this thread for some time…so many comments :relaxed: all giving me hope for M10
thanks… im applying as a repeat 9th grader, as 9th grade here is part of middle school, so…
anyways, twinsmama thank you for that, god… i had never really thought of that… but i think they do award full FA to the intl students under 75000 too… I will send an email asking though thanks
thank you everybodyyy :relaxed:  i hope you all get admitted and thanks for making me smile as i am anxiously waiting for the results… with that pretty bad self confidence i have  lol :P
