I’m a current female junior.
top 30% of class
3.6 GPA
24 ACT (planning to retake)
My father attended the U and my older brother is currently in CSE.
I am in student council, four years of math league, was president of my choir, and will be captain of my show choir team for my senior year.
As far as classes I’ve only taken one college in the high school class but my senior year is very rigorous with college econ, college algebra, statistics, college writing, level 2 German and physics.
I am also interning at a bank throughout my senior year.
If it makes any difference my family is in the “above 100,000” income category, and I plan on paying tuition and other expenses without taking out loans, I’ve heard this can work to my advantage but I’m not sure. Thank you for your input it is greatly appreciated!
Make sure your GPA is a little higher along with the ACT score.
Generally 95+% of cse students are in the top 25% of their class, top 10% being the most common.
However being a female really helps as I had a friend whose cousin got in with a 25 ACT, however I do not know her other stats.
I just pulled this statistic off the umn cse site:
99.5 Percent of freshmen graduating in the top 25 percent of their high school class.
Basically get all your scores up as much as possible this year, however the statistics do not look good with your current scores so even if you dont get into cse, set your second college option as the CLA and take the same classes you would take in cse then try to transfer after a year. Best of luck and hope to see you there!
@Sydneyumn The ACT score is going to hurt your chances. The 25th/75th percentile split for CSE is 30/33 for 2015 Freshman Class. The other metric is % in top 25% of HS Class; that is at 99.5% for 2015 Freshman class in CSE.
Unless you have a compelling reason for low class rank, I think you will have an uphill climb.
You really need to get your ACT score up to 30 to have a reasonable chance.
CSE is one of the top engineering schools around and I applaud your effort and wanting to get into such a good school.
Good Luck and I wish you the best.

I plan on attending CEHD or CLA, I forgot to clarify this in my initial post. My apologies, but I am not interested in CSE.
Look at the link I attached above. You will need to get your ACT up about 2 - 3 points to have a reasonable chance for CLA. Right now your ACT is below the 25th percentile for CLA (25).
You have a good chance for CEHD as the 25th percentile is 21 and Median is 25.
Your Class Rank (70) is below 25th percentile for CLA (75) and CEHD (77). You will need to improve your ACT to offset Class Rank.
