Chance me for Georgia Tech

Hey guys! I’m a current senior at a pretty competitive high school in the near West Chicago suburbs. I’m very interested in Georgia Tech and would like some feedback about whether being accepted is a possibility. Here’s my criteria:

Gender: Female
Race: African American/Black
SAT I: 1400 (650 Reading, 750 Math; retook in August but haven’t received scores yet)
SAT II: None yet (planning on taking Math 2, Biology, and possibly Spanish w/o Listening in October)
GPA: 3.7 UW, 4.31 W
AP Tests: English Lang (3), Spanish Lang (3)
Senior Classes: AP Biology, AP English Literature, AP Calc BC, AP Psychology, IRDI (intensive research class)

ECs
-Girl Scouts (since kindergarten, earned Bronze and Silver Award)
-Marching Band (since freshman year, section leader of drumline senior year)
-Pep Band (founding member, freshman year to sophomore year)
-Black Leaders Union (participant since sophomore year)
-Roses 4 Austin (participant since freshman year)
-Student Council (senior class representative, involved since sophomore year)
-Spanish Club (co-president junior and senior year)
-Bioengineering Club (one of the founding members of this club, student leader)
-Circle 80 (service learning club, participant since freshman year)
-Tau Gamma (secretary senior year, service learning club, participant since freshman year)

Summer
2017-Went to Dublin for James Joyce Summer School, earned 3 college credits

2018-Went to Legon, Ghana and earned 45 hours of international volunteer service hours; went to Brown University’s Summer@Brown pre-college program and took Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine class

Intended Major: Biomedical Engineering or maybe Biology (if BME is too hard to get into), minor in International Relations

Thank you so much for your feedback and advice!!

You sound like a pretty solid candidate. I’m not an admissions expert, but my brother went to GT so I sort of have a feel for students there. ECs are looking strong. Your SAT is a bit on the lower end for GT, and you don’t have a math-oriented AP score to send. You can, however, make that up with a good subject test score. Overall, I’d say you have a pretty decent shot. Good Luck! I’ll be applying there too this fall, so maybe I’ll see you around!

Have many safeties/matches. G Tech is very tough for out of state applicants. Even though your scores are good for OOS they need to be better. Ace out your senior year since these grades will count, apply early and write a great essay. Also very little merit /aid from Gtech for OOS. Your a good match for University of Illinois Champaign. Which would be $20,000 less expensive FYI.
