I think none really knows how hard it is to get into the 2nd form at Groton….where are you from? Do you need FA? You sound like a very strong candidate!

no fa and i live in california @LifeLongNYer

None of us are admissions officers, so none of us know. You, however, will be very upset that you chose that username if you do not get in.

in a whit female to

No one obviously ever has any idea who is going to get in anywhere, but I think Groton 2nd form is even more of a black box. We all know that its generally harder to get in places for 10th grade as there aren’t as many spots and they are looking to round out a class. But its hard to know how many applicants there are for 2nd form, why would the class size “vary from 25-30” if they could take 30 amazing kids every year? I’m not suggesting their standards are lower for 2nd form but maybe its a smaller pool of applicants so a qualified applicant (which you certainly seem to be) has a higher chance than you would for 3rd form. How was the interview?

the interview was great, it was via Skype tho cause it wasn’t convenient for me to travel at the time

I do not think the Skype thing matters, they wouldn’t grant you an off campus interview?

@LifeLongNYer: Off-campus interviews include Skype and phone if there is not an alumnae/i around.

@LifeLongNYer‌ The changing numbers for second form at Groton have to do with faculty kids and day students. There are only 11 beds for girls and 11 beds for boys. The rest are “fac brats” and day students. A few years ago, when there were 28 students, it was because of a bumper crop of faculty children.

@calrenoma thats interesting I hadn’t realized that about the dorms. Do they just have one suite for 2nd form boys and one for 2nd form girls?
